6 But at the place which the LORD thy God thall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt facrifice the paffover at even, at the going down of the fun, at the season that thou camelt forth out of Egypt.

And thou shalt roaft and eat it in the place which the LORD thy God thall choote: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

8 Six days thou fhalteat unleavened bread, and on the feventh day shall be a folemn af sembly to the LORD thy God; thou fhalt do no work therein.

91 Seven weeks fhalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the feven weeks from such time as thou beginnelt to put the fickle

to the corn.

10 And thou fhalt keep the feaft of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a free-will-off ring of thine hand, which thou thalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath bleffed thee:

1 And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy fon, and thy daughter, and thy man-fervant, and thy maid-fervant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherlefs, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chofen to place his name there.

12 And thou shalt remember that thou waft a bond-man in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do thele statutes.

139 Thou shalt obferve the feaft of tabernacles feven days, after that thou haft gathered in thy corn and thy wine.

14 And thou thalt rejoice in thy fcaft, thou, and thy fon, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maid-fërvant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.

15 Seven days thalt thou keep a folemn faeft unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thall choofe: because the LORD thy God thall blefs thee in all thy increafe, and in all the works of thine hands; therefore thou shalt furely rejoice.

16 Three times in a year thall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he thall choofe; in the feaf of unleavened bread, and in the feaft of weeks, and in the feaft of tabernacles: and they thall not appear before the LORD empty.

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the bleffing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

18 Judges and officers fhalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee throughout thy tribes: and they hall judge the people with jutt judgment.

19 Thou shalt not wreit judgment; thou fhalt not refpect perfons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wife, and pervert the words of the righteous.

o That which is altogether juft fhalt thou follow, that thou mayett live, and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 21 Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD ty God, which thou shalt make thee. 22 Nither halt thou fet thee up any image, which he LORD thy God hateth. CHAP. XVII.

I Things facrificed must be found. 2 Idolaters must be flain. 14 The election, 16 and dwy of a king.

Hou thalt not facrifice unto the LORD

thy God any bullock or theep where"in is blemith, or any evil-favouredness: for that is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

29 If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORDthyGodgiv eth thee, man or woman that hath wrought wickedness in the fight of the LORD thyGod, in tranfgreffing his covenant,

3 And hath gone and ferved other gods, and worthipped them, either the fun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

4 And it be told thee, and thou haft heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that fuch abomination is wrought in Ifrael:

5 Then fhalt thou bring forth that man, or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt tone them with tones till they die.

6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witneffes, thall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one wit nefs he shall not be put to death.

7 The hands of the witneffes thall be firft upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people: fo thou fhalt put the evil away from among you.

8 If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plca and plea, and between stroke and ttroke, being matters of controverfy,within thy gates, then fhalt thou arife, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose :

9 And thou shalt come unto the pricfts the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in thofe days, and enquire; and they fhall fhew thee the fentence of judgment.

10 And thou fhalt do according to the fentence which they of that place which the LORD fhall choofe fhall thew thee; and thou halt obferve to do according to all that they inform thee:

11 According to the fentence of the law which they fhall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do; thou shalt not decline from the fentence which they thall thew thee, to the right hand nor to the left.

12 And the man that will do prefumptu. onsly, and will not hearken unto the prieft that flandeth to minutter there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Ifrael.

13 And all the people fhall hear, and fear, and do no more prefumptuously.

14 When thon art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and fhalt poffefs it, and thalt dwell therein, and fhalt fay, I with fet a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me:

15 Than fhalt in any wife fet him king over thee whom the LORD thy God thall choote: one from among thy brethren thalt thou jer

king over thee: thou mayeft not set a ftranger over thee, which is not thy brother.

16 But he thall not multiply horfes to himfelf nor caufe the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply hories: forafmuch as the LORD hath faid unto you, ye shall henceforth return no more that way. 17 Neither thall he multiply wives to himfelf, that his heart turn not away; neither thall he greatly multiply to himfelf tilver and gold

18 And it shall be, when he fitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he thall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites:

19 And it fhall be with him, and he hall read therein all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law, and thefe ftatutes, to do them.

20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not afide from the commandment, to the right hand or to the left; to the end that he may prolong hir days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midit of Ifrael.

CHAP. XVIII.

1 The Lord is the priests and the Levites inheritance. 15 Chrift the Prophet is to be heard. 20 The prefumptuous prophet is to die.

T

He priefts the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, hall have no part nor inheritance with Ifrael: they fhall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance. 2 Therefore fhall they have no inheritance among their brethren; the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath faid unto them.

3 And this thall be the pricfts due from the people, from them that offer a facrifice whether it be ox or theep: and they thall give unto the priest the thoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

4 The first fruit alfo of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thy oil, and the first of the Reece of thy theep, thalt thou give him..

For the Lone thy Gop hath chofen him out of all thy tribes, to ftand to minifter in the name of the LORD, him and his fons for

ever.

6 And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Ifrael, where he fojourned, and come with all the defire of his mind unto the place which the LORD fhall choofe; 7 Then he thall minitter in the name of the LORD his GOD, as all his brethren the Levites do, which ftand there before the LORD.

8 They fhall have like portions to cat, befides that which cometh of the fate of his patrimony.

95 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou fhalt not learn to do after the abominations of thofe nations.

10 There thall not be found among you any one that maketh his fon or his daughter to pafs through the fire, or that ufeth divination, or an obferver of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

(1 Or a charmer, or a confulter with familar fpirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12 For all that do thefe things are an abomination unto the LORD: and becaufe of

thefe abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 Thon fhalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

14 For thefe nations, which thou shalt pos fefs, hearken unto obfervers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not fuffered thee fo to do.

15 The LORD thy God will raise up amo thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, at thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye thall hearken:

16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb, in the day of the affembly, faying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me fee this great fire any more, that I dic not. 17 And the LORD faid unto ine, They have well spoken that which they have fpoken.

181 will raife them up a Prophet from among their brethren like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and be thall peak unto them all that I shall command him.

19 And it shall come to país, that whofoever will not hearken unto my words, which he thall fpeak in my name, I will require it of him.

20 But the prophet which fhall prefume to fpeak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to fpeak, or that thall fpeak in the name of other gods, even that prophet fhall dic.

21 And if thou fay in thine heart, How fhall we know the word which the LORD hath not fpoken!

22 When a prophet fpeaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pals, that is the thing which the LORD hath not (poken, but the prophet hath (poken it presumptuously; thou shalt not be afraid of him.

CHAP. XIX.

1 The cities of refuge. 6 The punishment of a falle witness.

HEN the LORD thy God hath cut off the

Wnations, whofe land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou fucceeden them, and dwellett in their cities, and in their houfes;

2 Thou fhalt feparate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land. which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possefs it.

3 Thou thalt prepare thee a way, and di vide the coafts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every layer may fee thither.

41 And this is the cafe of the flayer which fhall fee thither, that he may live: Whofu killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time paft;"

5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the trec, and the head dippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he ball flee unto one of those cities and live:

6 Letf the avenger of blood purine the layer while his heart is hot and, overtake him, because the way is long, and flay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time pall,

7 Wherefore I cominand thee, taying, Thou halt feparate three cities for thee

8 And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coaft, as he hath fworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promifed to give unto thy fathers;

9 If thou shalt keep all thefe commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then thalt thou add three cities more for thee, befides there three; 10 That innocent bloed be not thed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and fo blood be upon thee.

11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and finite him mortally that he die, and fleetli into one of thefe cities;

12 Then the elders of his city thall fend and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

3 Thine eye shall nor pity laim; but thou fhalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Ifrael, that it may go well with thee.

14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbours Land-mark, which they of old time have fet in thine inheritance, which thou thalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to poffefs it.

15 One witnefs fhall not rife up against a man for any iniquity, or for any fin, in any fin that he finneth: at the mouth of two wit neffes, or at the mouth of three witnefles, thall the matter be eftablished.

16 If a falle witnefs rife up againit any man, to teflify againit him that which is wrong;

17 Then both the men, between whom the controverty is, thall ftand before the LORD, before the pricfts and the judges which thall be in those days.

18 And the judges thall make diligent inquifition: and, behold, if the witnefs be a falie witnets, and hath teftified falfely against his brother;

19 Then fhall ye do unto him as he had thought to have done unto his brother: fo thalt thou put the evil away from among you. 20 And thofe which remain thall hear, and fear, and thall henceforth commit no more any fuch evil among you.

21 And thine eye thall not pity; but life shalla for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, band for hand, foot for foot.

CHAP. XX.

The priests exhortation to encourage the people to battle. 10 How to use the cities that accept or refufe the proclamation of peace. 16 What cities must be devoted.

Hen thou goelt out to battle againft W thine enemies, and teeit horfes and chariots, and a people more than thon, be not afraid of them; for the Loan thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

And it thall be, when ye are come nigh auto the battle, that the pricft thall approach, and speak unto the people,

And thall fay unto them, Hear, O Ifrael; we Approach this day unto battle against your enents: let not your hearts faint: fear not, altar not tremble, neither be ye terrified Soul of them:

4 For the LORD your God is he that goeth! with you, to fight for you againit your ene mies, to fave you.

5 And the officers thall fpeak unto the people, faying, What man is there that hath built a new houfe, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his houfe, lett he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.. 6 And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him alfo go and return unto his house, left he die in the battle, and another man cat of it.

7 And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his houfe, leit be die in battle, and another man take her.

8 And the officers thall fpeak further unto the people, and they thall fay, What man is there that is fearful and faint-hearted? let him go and return unto his houfe, left his brethrens heart faint as well as his heart.

9 And it thall be, when the officers have made an end of fpeaking unto the people, that they fhall make captains of the armies to lead the people.

10 When thou comeft nigh unto a city to fight againft it, then proclaim peace unto it.

11 And it fhall be, if it inake thee anfwer of peace, and open unto thee, then it thall be, that all the people that is found therein thall be tributaries unto thee, and they thall ferve thee.

12 And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war againit thee, then thou fhalt beliege it:

13 And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt fmite every male thereof with the edge of the fword."

14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, fhalt thou take unto thyself: and thou fhalt cat the ipoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given

thee.

15 Thus halt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.

16 But of the cities of thefe people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou thalt fave alive nothing that breatheth:

17 But thou fhalt utterly deftroy them; namely, the Bittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebutites, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:

18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; fo fhould ye tin against the LORD your God.

19 When thou thalt befiege a city a long time, in making waragainst it to take it, thou thalt not deftroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayelt cat of them, and thou inalt not cut them down, (for the tree of the field is mans life,) to employ them in the fiege.

20 Only the trees which thou knoweft that they be not trees for meat thou that deftroy, and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be fubdued.
