9 Come to raise us when we fall,

And, when snares our souls enthrall,
Lead us back with gentle call;

Hear us, Holy Spirit.

10 Come to strengthen all the weak,

Give thy courage to the meek,
Teach our faltering tongues to speak;

Hear us, Holy Spirit.

11 Come to aid the souls who yearn

More of truth divine to learn,
And with deeper love to burn;

Hear us, Holy Spirit.

12 Keep us in the narrow way,

Warn us when we go astray,
Plead within us when we pray;

Hear us, Holy Spirit.

13 Holy, loving, as thou art,

Come, and live within our heart;
Nevermore from us depart;
Hear us, Holy Spirit. Amen.

mighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise

to thee: Holy, Holy, Holy! merciful and mighty!

God in Three Persons, blessèd Trinity.

Ho mighty

2 Holy, Holy, Holy! all the saints adore thee,

Casting down their golden crowns around

the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down

before thee, Which wert, and art, and evermore

shalt be.

3 Holy, Holy, Holy! though the darkness

hide thee, Though the eye of sinful man thy glory

may not see, Only thou art holy; there is none beside

thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

4 Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

All thy works shall praise thy Name,

in earth, and sky, and sea; Holy, Holy, Holy! merciful and mighty! God in Three Persons, blessèd Trinity. 206

Amen. Reginald Heber, pub. 1827.

A ransom for our souls hath found, Before thy throne we sinners bend; To us thy pardoning love extend.

2 Almighty Son, Incarnate Word,

Our Prophet, Priest, Redeemer, Lord,
Before thy throne we sinners bend;
To us thy saving grace extend.

3 Eternal Spirit, by whose breath

The soul is raised from sin and death,
Before thy throne we sinners bend;

To us thy quickening power extend. 4 Jehovah, Father, Spirit, Son!

Mysterious Godhead, Three in One!
Before thy throne we sinners bend;
Grace, pardon, life, to us extend. Amen.

8.7.8.7 D. OUND the Lord in glory seated

Cherubim and seraphim Filled his temple, and repeated

Each to each the alternate hymn: "Lord, thy glory fills the heaven,

Earth is with thy fullness stored; Unto thee be glory given,

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord.”

2 Heaven is still with glory ringing,

Earth takes up the angels' cry, "Holy, Holy, Holy," singing,

“Lord of hosts, the Lord Most High.”

With his seraph train before him,

With his holy Church below, Thus unite we to adore him,

Bid we thus our anthem flow:

3 "Lord, thy glory fills the heaven,

Earth is with thy fullness stored;
Unto thee be glory given,

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord.”
Thus thy glorious Name confessing,

With thine angel hosts we cry,
"Holy, Holy, Holy," blessing
Thee, the Lord of hosts Most High.

Amen. Richard Mant, 1837, alt.

Six 7's OLY, Holy,

God of hosts, eternal King, By the heavens and earth adored; Angels and archangels sing,

Chanting everlastingly

To the blessèd Trinity.
2 Since by thee were all things made,

And in thee do all things live,
Be to thee all honour paid,
Praise to thee let all things give,

Singing everlastingly
To the blessèd Trinity.

3 Thousands, tens of thousands stand,

Spirits blest before thy throne,
Speeding thence at thy command;
And when thy command is done,

Singing everlastingly
To the blessèd Trinity.

4 Cherubim and seraphim

Veil their faces with their wings;
Eyes of angels are too dim
To behold the King of kings,

While they sing eternally
To the blessèd Trinity.

5 Thee, apostles, prophets, thee,

Thee, the noble martyr band,
Praise with solemn jubilee,
Thee, the Church in every land;

Singing everlastingly,
To the blessèd Trinity.

6 Alleluia! Lord, to thee,

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Three in One, and One in Three,
Join we with the heavenly host,

Singing everlastingly
To the blessèd Trinity. Amen.

Christopher Wordsworth, 1862 209

6.6.4.6.6.6.4 YOME, thou almighty King,

Help us thy Name to sing,
Help us to praise!
Father all-glorious,
O'er all victorious,
Come and reign over us,

Ancient of days!

2 Come, thou Incarnate Word,
Gird on thy mighty sword;

Our prayer attend!
Come, and thy people bless;
Come, give thy word success;
'Stablish thy righteousness,

Saviour and Friend!
