PRAIS

[blocks in formation]

ORAISE, waiteth for Thee, O God, in Zion; and unto Thee shall the vow be performed.

O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh

come.

Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, Thou shalt purge them away.

Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple.

[blocks in formation]

COME, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the strength of the hills is His also.

The sea is His, and He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.

O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; fear before Him, all the earth.

For He cometh, for He cometh, to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth.

Then let there be read the first Lesson according to the table, after which the following Anthem:

[NOTE.-That before every Lesson, the Minister should say, "Here beginneth such a Chapter, or Verse of such a Chapter, of such a Book ;" and after every Lesson, “Here endeth the first, or the second, Lesson."]

I WILL extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless

Thy Name for ever and ever.

Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy Name for ever and ever.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.

One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.

I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy Majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.

And men shall speak of the might of Thy terrible acts: and I will declare Thy greatness.

They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.

The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.

All Thy works shall praise Thee, O Lord; and Thy saints shall bless Thee.

They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power;

To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

THE

HE heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handiwork.

Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever.

The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold; yea, than much fine gold:

Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Moreover by them is Thy servant warned and in keeping of them there is great reward.

THE

[blocks in formation]

HE Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

The eyes of all wait upon Thee; and Thou givest them their meat in due season.

Thou openest Thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.

The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.

He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

The Lord preserveth all them that love Him: but all the wicked will He destroy.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless His holy Name for ever and ever.

WE

[blocks in formation]

E praise Thee, O God; we acknowledge Thee to be the Lord.

All the earth doth worship Thee, the Father everlasting. To Thee all Angels cry aloud; the Heavens, and all the powers therein.

To Thee Cherubim and Seraphim continually do cry.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Sabaoth;

Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of Thy Glory.
The glorious company of the Apostles praise Thee.
The goodly fellowship of the Prophets praise Thee.
The noble army of Martyrs praise Thee.

The holy Church throughout all the world doth acknowledge Thee;

The Father, of an infinite Majesty ;
Thine adorable, true, and only Son;
Also, the Holy Ghost, the Comforter.
Thou art the King of Glory, O Christ.

Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father.

When Thou tookest upon Thee to deliver man, Thou didst humble Thyself to be born of a Virgin.

When Thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death, Thou didst open the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers.

Thou sittest at the right hand of God, in the Glory of the Father.

We believe that Thou shalt come to be our Judge.

We therefore pray Thee, help Thy servants, whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy precious blood.

Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints, in glory everlasting.

O Lord, save Thy people, and bless Thine heritage.
Govern them, and lift them up for ever.

Day by day we magnify Thee;

And we worship Thy Name ever, world without end.
Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep us this day without sin.
O Lord, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us.
O Lord, let Thy mercy be upon us, as our trust is in

Thee.

O Lord, in Thee have I trusted; let me never be confounded.

Then let there be read in like manner the Second Lesson, taken out of the New Testament, according to the Table. And after that be said or sung the following Anthem :

UNT

[blocks in formation]

NTO Thee will I cry, O Lord, my rock; be not silent to me;

Lest if Thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto Thee;

When I lift up my hands toward Thy holy oracle.

Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;

Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my song will I praise him.

The Lord is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed.

Save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance; feed them also, and lift them up forever.

MAKE

[blocks in formation]

AKE a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.
