mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we show forth Thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to Thy service, and by walking before Thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

A Prayer for all Conditions of Men.

GOD, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech Thee for all sorts and conditions of men; that Thou wouldest be pleased to make Thy ways known unto them, Thy saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for Thy holy Church universal; that it may be so guided and governed by Thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to Thy fatherly goodness all those who are any ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; that it may please Thee to comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

O

GOD, Whose days are without end, and Whose mercies cannot be numbered; Make us, we beseech Thee, to comprehend the shortness and uncertainty of human life; and let Thy Holy Spirit lead us through this vale of misery, in holiness and righteousness, all the days of our lives: that, when we shall have served Thee in our generation, we may be gathered unto our fathers, having the testimony of a good conscience; in the communion of the Catholic Church; in the confidence of a certain faith; in the comfort of a reasonable, religious, and holy hope; in favour with Thee our God, and in perfect charity with the world. All which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LORD

ORD of our life, and God of our salvation,

Star of our night, and hope of every nation,

Hear and receive Thy Church's supplication,

Lord God Almighty.

See round Thine Ark the hungry billows curling!

See how Thy foes their banners are unfurling !

Lord, while their darts envenomed they are hurling,

Thou canst preserve us.

Lord, Thou canst help when earthly armour faileth;

Lord, Thou canst save when deadly sin assaileth;

Lord, o'er Thy Church nor death nor hell prevaileth:

Grant us Thy peace, Lord!

Peace, in our hearts, our evil thoughts assuaging,

Peace, in Thy Church, where brothers are engaging,

Peace, when the world its busy war is waging;

Calm Thy foes' raging!

Grant us Thy help till backward they are driven;

Grant them Thy truth, that they may be forgiven;

Grant peace on earth, and after we have striven,

Peace in Thy heaven.
