The Holy Ghost sent down from heaven.

Calmly we wait the promised grace,
The purchase of our dying Lord;

Come, Holy Ghost, and fill the place.
3 If every one that asks may find,

Come as a mighty rushing wind;

Great grace be now upon us all.

Or long for thy return to pine;

J. Spoken by thee while present here,
The Father in my name shall send

The Holy Ghost, the Comforter.
9 That promise made to Adam's race,

Now, Lord, in us, we pray, fulfil;
And give the Spirit of thy grace,

To teach us all thy perfect will.
8 That heavenly Teacher of mankind,
That Guide infallible, impart,
To bring thy sayings to our mind,
And write them on each faithful heart.

THOU that hearest prayer,

Attend cur humble cry;
And let thy servants share

Thy blessing from on high :
We plead the promise of thy word ;-
Grant us thy Holy Spirit, Lord !
2 If earthly parents hear

Their children when they cry;
If they, with love sincere,

Their children's wants supply;
Much more wilt thou thy love display,
And answer when thy children pray.
8 Our heavenly Father, thou;

We, children of thy grace ; () let thy Spirit now

Descend and fill the place ;

Witnessing with our spirits.

i Our contrite hearts inspire; Kindle a flame of heavenly love

The pure celestial fire. 2 'Tis thine to soothe the sorrowing,

With guilt and fear oppress'd ; 'Tis thine to bid the dying live,

Whate'rr that sin may be; That we, in singleness of heart,

All creatures live and move, On us thy benediction shower;

Inspire our souls with love. 2 Hail, Source of light! arise and shine; All gloom and doubt dispel; Give peace and joy, for we are thine;

In us forever dwell. 3 From death to life om spirits raise,

And full redemption bring; New tongues impart to speak the praise

Of Christ, our God and King. 4 Thine inward witness bear, unknown

To all the world beside;
With joy we then shall feel and own

Whose rays of heavenly love Amid our gloom and darkness sline,

Give us that for which he prays :
