2 But all the notes which mortals know, Are weak, and languishing, and low; Far, far above our humble songs,

The theme demands immortal tongues. 8 Yet while around his board we meet, And humbly worship at his feet, O let our warm affections move, In glad returns of grateful love! 4 Let humble, penitential wo, In tears of godly sorrow flow; And thy forgiving smiles impart Life, hope, and joy to every heart. 279

All the Saviour's dying merit,
All his suff'rings for mankind:
True recorder of his passion,
Now the living faith impart;
Now reveal his great salvation
Unto every faithful heart.

2 Come, thou Witness of his dying;
Come, Remembrancer divine;
Let us feel thy power applying
Christ to every soul, and mine:
Let us groan thine inward groaning;
Look on Him we pierced, and grieve;
All partake the grace atoning,-
All the sprinkled blood receive.

Universal gladness and joy.

LORY to God on

GOur petuce is made with Heaven;

The Son of God came down to die,
That we might be forgiven.

2 His precious blood was shed,
His body bruised, for sin :
Remember this in eating bread,
And this in drinking wine.
3 Approach his royal board,
In his rich garments clad;
Join every tongue to praise the Lord,
And every heart be glad.

4 The Father gives the Son;
The Son, his flesh and blood:
The Spirit seals; and faith puts on
The righteousness of God."

The heavenly banquet.

JESUS spreads his banner o'er us,
Cheers our famish'd souls with food;
He the banquet spreads before us,
Of his mystic flesh and blood.
Precious banquet; bread of heaven;
Wine of gladness, flowing free;
May we taste it, kindly given,
In remembrance, Lord, of thee.
2 In thy holy incarnation,

When the angels sang thy birth;
In thy fasting and temptation;
In thy labours on the earth;
In thy trial and rejection;
In thy suff'rings on the tree;
In thy glorious resurrection;
May we, Lord, remember thee,

5th P. M. 4 lines 78.

Pardon-grace-glory. SONS of God, triumphant rise;

Shout the accomplish'd sacrifice; Shout your sins in Christ forgiven,Sons of God, and heirs of heaven.

2 Love's mysterious work is done;
Greet we now the' atoning Son;
Heal'd and quicken'd by his bloed,
Join'd to Christ, and one with God.

8 Him by faith we taste below,
Mightier joys ordain'd to know;
When his atmost grace we prove,
Rise to heaven by perfect love.

12th P. M. 76, 76, 78, 76.

For a parting blessing.

LAMB of God, whose dying love
We now recall to mind,
Send the answer from above,
And let us mercy find:
Think on us who think on thee,
And every struggling soul release;
O remember Calvary,

And bid us go in peace!

2 By thine agonizing pain,

And bloody sweat, we pray,-
By thy dying love to man,-
Take all our sins away:
Burst our bonds, and set us free;
From all iniquity release;
O remember Calvary,

And bid us go in peace!

3 Let thy blood, by faith applied, The sinner's pardon seal;

Speak us freely justified,

And all our sickness heal:

By thy passion on the tree,

Let all our griefs and troubles cease;

O remember Calvary,

And bid us go in peace!

THE GOSPEL.

10th P. M. 8 lines 8s.

The fountain of living waters,
FOUNTAIN of life and of grace
In Christ, our Redeemer, we see:
For us, who his offers embrace,
For all, it is open and free:
Jehovah, himself, doth invite

To drink of his pleasures unknown;
The streams of immortal delight,
That flow from his heavenly throne.
2 As soon as in him we believe,
By faith of his Spirit we take:
And, freely forgiven, receive
The mercy for Jesus's sake!
We gain a pure drop of his love;
The life of eternity know;
Angelical happiness prove,
And witness a heaven below.

All-sufficiency of the gospel.
THE gospel! O, what endless charms
Dwell in that blissful sound;

Its influence every fear disarms,
And spreads delight around.

2 Here pardon, life, and joy divine,
In rich effusion flow,

For guilty rebels, lost in sin,

And doom'd to endless wo.

3 The' almighty Former of the skies Stoops to our vile abode;

While angels view with wond'ring eyes. And hail the' incarnate God.

4 How rich the depths of love diviné !
Of bliss a boundless store!
Redeemer, let me call thee mine,-
Thy fulness I implore.

5 On thee alone my hope relies;
Beneath thy cross I fall;

My Lord, my life, my sacrifice,
My Saviour, and my all!

Our debt paid upon the cross.

WHAT majesty and grace

Ś. M.

Through all the gospel shine!
"Tis God that speaks, and we confess
The doctrine most divine.

2 Down from his throne on high,
The mighty Saviour comes;
Lays his bright robes of glory by,
And feeble flesh assumes.

3 The debt that sinners owed,
Upon the cross he pays:

Then through the clouds ascends to God,
'Midst shouts of loftiest praise.

4 There our High Priest appears,
Before his Father's throne;
Mingles his merits with our tears,
And pours salvation down.

5 Great Sov'reign, we adore
Thy justice and thy grace,

And on thy faithfulness and power
Our firm dependence place.

The divine Teacher.

LOW sweetly flow'd the Gospel's sound

H From lips of gentleness and grace,

While list'ning thousands gather'd round,
And joy and rev'rence fill'd the place.
