20 let thy sacred presence fill,

And set my longing spirit free;
Which pants to have no other will,

But night and day to feast on thee.
3 While in this region here below,

No other good will I pursue ;
I'll bid this world of noise and show,

With all its glitt'ring snares, adieu.
4 That path with humble speed I 'll seek,

In which my Saviour's footsteps shine,
Nor will I hear, nor will I speak,

Of any other love but thine.
5 Henceforth may no profane delight

Divide this consecrated soul;
Possess it thou, who hast the right,

As Lord and Master of the whole.
6 Nothing on earth do I desire,

But thy pure love within my breast; This, only this, will I require,

And freely give up all the rest.
507

The perfect law of love.
THE thing my God doth late,
Thy creature, Lord, again create,

And all my soul renew :
2 My soul shall then, like thine,

Aðhor the thing unclean,
And, sanctified by love divine,

Forever cease from sin.
8 That blessed law of thine,

Jesus, to me impart;
The Spirit's law of life divine,

O write it on my heart!

4 Implant it deep within,

Whence it may ne'er remove,The law of liberty from sin,

The perfect law of love. 5 Thy nature be my law,

Thy spotless sanctity;
And sweetly every moment draw

My happy soul to thee. 6 Soul of my soul, remain!

Who didst for all fulfil, In me, O Lord, fulfil again

Thy heavenly Father's will, 508

Aspiring after holiness.
THOU God of all-sufficient grace,

O may I walk before thy face,

Till I am pure in heart:
Until, transform'd by faith divine,

I gain that love unknown;
And bright in all thine image shine,

By putting on thy Son.
2 Now, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

In counsel join again,
To reimpress thine image, lost

By frail, apostate man;
O might I, Lord, thy form express, -

Begotten from above,-
Be stamp'd with real holiness,

And fill'd with perfect love! 509

Cordial obedience.
COME, Lord, and claim me for thine own;
U Saviour, thy right assert;
Come, gracious Lord, set up thy throne,

And reign within my heart.

? The day of thy great power I feel;

And pant for liberty;
I loathe myself, deny my will,

And give up all for thee.
3 I hate my sins, -no longer mine,

For I renounce them too;
My weakness with thy strength I join;

Thy strength shall all subdue.
4 So shall I bless thy pleasing sway,

And, sitting at thy feet,
Thy laws with all my heart obey,-

With all my soul submit.

The light yoke and easy burden.
O

THAT my load of sin were gone;
At Jesus' feet to lay it down-

To lay my soul at Jesus' feet.
2 Rest for my soul I long to find :

Saviour of all, if mine thou art,
Give me thy meek and lowly mind

And stamp thine image on my heart. 3 Break off the yoke of inbred sin,

And fully set my spirit free;
I cannot rest till pure within,

-
Till I am wholly lost in thee.
4 Fain would I learn of thee, my God;

Thy light and easy burden prove;
The cross all stain'd with hallow'd blood,

The labour of thy dying love.
5 I would, but thou must give the power;

My heart from every sin release
Bring near, bring near the joyful hour,

And fill me with thy perfect peace.

4th P. M. 886, 886.
The blessed hope.
PUT can it be that I should prove

From sin forever cease!
I thank thee for the blessed hope;
It lifts my drooping spirits up;

It gives me back my peace.
2 In thee, O Lord, I put my trust;
Mighty, and merciful, and just,

Thy sacred world is past;
And I, who dare thy word believe,
Without committing sin shall live,

Shall live to God at last.
3 I rest in thine almighty power;
The name of Jesus is my tower

That hides my life above :
Thou canst, thou wilt, my belper be
My confidence is all in thee,

The faithful God of love.
4 Wherefore, in never-ceasing prayer,
My soul to thy continual cure

I faithfully commend;
Assured that thou through life wilt save,
And show thyself beyond the grave

My everlasting Friend. 512

Rejoicing in hope.
JESU
TESUS comes with all his grace,
J Comes to save a fallen race;
Object of our glurious hope,
Jesus comes to lift us up.
2 Let the living stones cry out;
Let the sons of Abrah'm shout:
Praise we all our lowly King;
Give him thanks, rejoice, and sing.

3 We are now his lawful right; Walk as children of the light; We shall soon obtain the grace, Pure in heart, to see his face. 4 We shall gain our calling's prize; After G We all shall rise, Filld with joy, and love, and peace, Perfected in boliness. 5 Let us then rejoice in hope; Steadily to Christ look up: Trust to be redeem'd from sin, Wait till he appear within. 6 Hasten, Lord, the perfect day; Let thy every servant say, I have now obtain'l the power,

Born of God, to sin no more.

The garner of God.
COMIE, thon omniscient Son of man,

,
Display thy sitting power;
Come, with thy Spirit's winn'wing fan,

And throughly purge thy floor.
2 The chaff of sin, the accursed thing,

Far from our souls be driven;
The wheat into thy garner bring,

And lay us up for heaven.
8 Whate'er offends tly glorious eyes,

Far from our hearts remove;
As dust before the whirlwind flies,

Disperse it by thy love.
4 Then let us all thy fulness know,

From every sin set free;
Saved to the utmust, saved below,
And perfected in thee.
