919 P. M. 87, 87. Evening: Confidence in God's protection, JAVIOUR, breathe an evening blessing, ,
repose our spirits seal ;
Thou canst save and thou canst heal.
We are safe, if thou art nigh.
Darkness cannot hide from thee;
Watchest where thy people be.
And command us to the tomb,
Clad in bright; eternal bloom.
With gratitude 1 raise ;
And fill my heart with praise.
And every Meeting bour,
Of mercy, love, and power.
Preserve me from all harm :
Extends his mighty arm!
With sleep refresh my frame;
And wake to praise thy Name.
C. M. Evening: Numberless mercies. TOW from the altar of our hearts,
Let warmest thanks arise; Assist iis, Lord, to offer up
Our evening sacrifice.
Our keeper and our guide;
I lis mercies multiplied.
llave made up all this day; Minutes came quick, but mercies were
More swift and free that they.
Do a new song require :
Accept our hearts' desire. 612
L. M. Evening: Memorials of His grace. THUS far the Lord hath led me on,
in ; And every evening shal make known
Some fresh memorial of his grace. 2 Much of my time has run to waste,
And I, perlaps, am near my hone: But he forgives my follies past,
And gives nie strength for days to como. 3 I lay my body down to sleep;
Peace is the pillow for my head; While well-appointed angels keep
Their watchful stations round my bed. 4 Thus, when the night of death shall como
My flesh shall rest beneath the ground, And wait thy voice to rouse my tomb,
With sweet salvation in the sound.
Nor would I dare to sin.
From cares and business free,
With my own heart and theo.
And, when my work is done,
Upon thy grace alone.
I'll give mine eyes to sleep;
And will my slumbers keep.
Jesus, be thou my power,-
My fortress and my tower.
Be thou my sure abode :
My Saviour and my God.
Myself I cannot keep,-
Whose eyelids never sleep.
Now therefore I commend :
And love me to the end.
38th P. M. 86, 88, 88.
The evening sacrifice.
Hath led us on till now,
Before thy throne we bow:
For mercies day by day:
Lord, teach us how to pray:
Through lite our guard and friend;
Preserve is to the end :
These blessings we implore;
And gratefully adore :
Through all the hours of night,
The safeguard of thy might. 2 With cheerful heart I close mine eyes,
Since thou wilt not remove : 0, in the morning let me rise Rejoicing in thy lova,
3 Or, if this night should prove my last.
And end ny trausient days;
Where I may sing thy praise.

Evening: Perfect security.
Thou Shepherd and Guardian divine,
The night is no darkness to me;
They bring me but nearer to thee,
Unseen, yet forever at hand;
Almighty to rule and command,
The heirs of salvation to keep.
Their fervour is still on the wing;
They chant to the praise of my King-
Tbeir chorus forever shall join;
Their faithful Creator and mine.
LL praise to Him who dwells in bliks,
