3 Cease, ye pilgrims, cease to mourn;
Press onward to the prize;
Soon our Saviour will return
Triumphant in the skies:

There we 'll join the heavenly train,
Welcomed to partake the bliss;
Fly from sorrow, care, and pain,
To realms of endless peace.

7th P. M. 8 lines Ta.

Saints and angels round the throne.

L'Ente und angels join' in one:
IFT your eyes of faith, and see

What a countless company

Stand before yon dazzling throne!
Each before his Saviour stands,
All in whitest robes array'd;
Palms they carry in their hands,
Crowns of glory on their head.

2 Saints, begin the endless song;
Cry aloud, in heavenly lays,-
Glory doth to God belong;

God the glorious Saviour praise:
All salvation from him came,-
Him who reigns enthroned on high:
Glory to the bleeding Lamb,-
Let the morning stars reply.

8 Angel powers the throne surround;
Next the saints in glory they;
Lull'd with the transporting sound,
They their silent homage pay:
Prostrate on their face, before
God and his Messiah fall;
Then in hymns of praise adore,-
Shout the Lan:b that died for all.

The land of rest.

THERE is an hour of peaceful rest,
To mourning wand'rers given;
There is a joy for souls distress'd,
A balm for every wounded breast,-
"Tis found above in heaven.

2 There is a home for weary souls
By sin and sorrow driven,
When toss'd on life's tempestuous shoals,
Where storms arise and ocean rolls,
And all is drear but heaven.

8 There faith lifts up the tearless eye,
To brighter prospects given;
And views the tempest passing by,
The evening shadows quickly fly,
And all serene in heaven.

4 There fragrant flowers immortal bloom,
And joys supreme are given;
There rays divine disperse the gloom;
Beyond the confines of the tomb
Appears the dawn of heaven.

Rapturous anticipation.

COME, let us ascend,

My companion and friend,

To a taste of the banquet above:
If thy heart be as mine,

If for Jesus it pine.

Come up into the chariot of love.

2 Who in Jesus confide,
We are bold to outride.
The storms of affliction beneath;
With the prophet we soar
To the heavenly shore,

And outfly all the arrows of death.

3 By faith we are come
To our permanent home;
By hope we the rapture improve:
By love we still rise,

And look down on the skies,
For the heaven of heavens is love.

4 Who on earth can conceive
How happy we live,

In the palace of God the great King:
What a concert of praise,

When our Jesus's grace

The whole heavenly company sing!

5 What a rapturous song,
When the glorified throng
In the spirit of harmony join!-
Join all the glad choirs,

Hearts, voices, and lyres,
And the burden is,-Mercy divine;

6 Hallelujah, they cry,
To the King of the sky,-
To the great everlasting I AM;
To the Lamb that was slain,
And that liveth again,-

Hallelujah to God and the Lamb;

The heavenly Jerusalem.

AWAY with our sorrow and fear,

We soon shall recover our home;
The city of saints shall appear,-
The day of eternity come.
From earth we shall quickly remove,
And mount to our native abode;
The house of our Father above,-
The palace of angels and God.

Our mourning is all at an end, When, raised by the life-giving Word, We see the new city descend,

Adorn'd as a bride for her Lord:
The city so holy and clean,

No sorrow can breathe in the air:
No gloom of affliction or sin;
No shadow of evil is there.

3 By faith we already behold
That lovely Jerusalem here:
Her walls are of jasper and gold;
As crystal her buildings are clear;
Immovably founded in grace,

She stands as she ever bath stood,
And brightly her Builder displays,
And flames with the glory of God.

Continued. There shall be no night there.

Nwhich never is follow'd by night,

TO need of the sun in that day

Where Jesus's beauties display
A pure and a permanent light:
The Lamb is their Light and their Sun,
And, lo! by reflection they shine;
With Jesus ineffably one,

And bright in effulgence divine.

2 The saints in his presence receive
Their great and eternal reward;
In Jesus, in heaven, they live,-
They reign in the smile of their Lord,
The flame of angelical love

Is kindled at Jesus's face;

And all the enjoyment above,
Consists in the rapturous gaze.

4th P. M. 886, 886,

The pilgrim's happy lot.

How is every anxious thought, JOW happy is the pilgrim's lot;

From worldly hope and fear!
Confined to neither court nor cell,
His soul disdains on earth to dwell,
He only sojourns here.

2 This happiness in part is mine,
Already saved from low design,
From every creature-love;
Blest with the scorn of finite good,
My soul is lighten'd of its load,
And seeks the things above.

3 There is my house and portion fair;
My treasure and my heart are there,
And my abiding home;

For me my elder brethren stay,
And angels beckon me away,
And Jesus bids me come.

4 I come, thy servant, Lord, replies;
I come to meet thee in the skies,
And claim my heavenly rest!

Soon will the pilgrim's journey end;
Theu, O my Saviour, Brother, Friend,
Receive me to thy breast!

The goodly city in prospect.

JERUSALEM! my happy home!

Name ever dear to me!

C. M.

When shall my labours have an end,
In joy, and peace in thee?

20 when, thou city of my God,
Shall I thy courts ascend,

Where congregations ne'er break up,
And Sabbath has no end!
