The Lord uplifts his awful hand,

Without his high behest,

He yokes the whirlwind to his car,

THE earth, with all her fulness, owns
Jehovah for her sov'reign Lord;
The countless myriads of her sons
Rose into being at his word.

2 His word did out of nothing call
The world, and founded all that is;
Launch'd on the floods this solid ball,
And fix'd it in the floating seas.

8 But who shall quit this low abode-
Who shall ascend the heavenly place,
And stand upon the mount of God,
And see his Maker face to face!

4 The man whose hands and heart are clean
That blessed portion shall receive;
He who by grace is saved from sin,
Shall with his God in glory live :-

Can bring it all to light.

And fit us for those realms of joy,

Infinite in wisdom.

PRAISE ye the Lord! 'tis good to raise

Your hearts and voices in his praise: His nature and his works invite

To make this duty our delight.

2 He form'd the stars, those heavenly flames;
He counts their numbers, calls their names;
His wisdom's vast, and knows no bound,--
A deep where all our thoughts are drown'd.
3 Sing to the Lord! exalt him high,
Who spreads the clouds along the sky;
There he prepares the fruitful rain,
Nor lets the drops descend in vain.
4 He makes the gracs the hills adorn;
He clothes the smiling fields with corn;
The beasts with food his hands supply,
And the young ravens when they cry.
5 What is the creature's skill or force!
The sprightly man, or warlike horse?
The piercing wit, the active limb!
All are too mean delights for him.
