EMIGRANT'S MAGAZINE,

Devoted to the interests of settlers and those who propose to settle in the United States or Canada. It is intended to make it a manual of information upon every subject connected with the emigrant's welfare; from the moment that the first spirit of inquiry shall seize him, to that in which his children shall consign him to the earth of his adopted country. THE LADIES' COMPANION.

This is a monthly magazine devoted to original and selected tales, sketches, stories, arts, sciences, amusements, fashions, and every department of polite literature. It is issued on the 15th of every month, stitched in a coloured cover, printed on good paper, contains from 40 to 56 pages, (large octavo,) making in a year two large volumes, each volume accompanied by a beautifully engraved title page and index. A CHART OF ANIMALS,

Illustrating their Natural History, and showing at one view the parts of the earth they inhabit. By Thomas T. Smiley, A. M. M. D.

This beautiful and most useful Chart, contains a small map of the world on a globular projection -with the names of countries, latitude, and longitude. Also a map of the world on Mercator's projection, which contains engravings of more than 250 animals, with a reference or key by which the name of the animal can at once be ascertained. In this manner, by a simple inspection, the part of the world which any animal inhabits becomes at once apparent, and in a very short time is indelibly

impressed on the mind. The principal geographical divisions are beautifully coloured, in such a manner as to prevent confusion, and relieve the eye.

These engravings are beautifully coloured according to nature.

This Chart will be found highly useful and instructive, both to children and grown persons. By the study of it, more knowledge may be obtained in a few days, than from months, or even years, spent in reading works on Natural History.

The object of the author of this work has been to condense the voluminous labours of former writers, which lay scattered in many expensive volumes beyond the reach of most readers of Scripture, and to bring their remarks together under their proper heads, comprised in a volume which most families may possess, and it is hoped consult, with pleasure and advantage. It is also believed that such information will be found on the subject of Ancient Geography, and such historical facts calculated to throw light on the Holy Scriptures, and to excite an increased interest in reading them, as will afford important
