Then He said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and He made as though He would have gone further. But they constrained Him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And He went in to tarry with them. Luke 24: 25-29.

GRANT rest, dear Lord, to the weary; comfort

to the sorrowing; shelter to the homeless; and pillow the head of every sufferer upon Thy everlasting arms, and gather, Heavenly Father, within the shelter of those loving arms the lonely who stand in need of Thee, and shed the brightness of Thy countenance upon them that in their darkness they may see Thy face and so obtain that peace that remaineth for the people of God.

We Thy children ask it for His sake, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Jesus answered them, do ye now believe?-John 16: 31.

OUR Father, God, we know Thee through Jesus

Christ our Lord, and we praise Thee for all Thy loving kindness and tender mercies. With the assurance that Thou wilt never leave nor forsake us, we enter upon the duties of a new day. We lift our eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh our help.

Direct us in all the way that we should take, in view of our great responsibilities and opportunities. Help us to earn our bread honestly, but not to be so busy as to let the King pass by. May we live our day before Thee in all reverence, quietness, love, and usefulness.

Remember our loved ones everywhere. Bless all for whom we ought to pray-the sick, the suffering, the sinful, God pity them and minister to their needs. Let Thy grace be upon every heart lifted up in true and simple desire for a better life.

Bless our nation in all her crises. Give wisdom unto our counsellors, and direction to those who lead our affairs.

Bless especially the Church of Jesus Christ, her missionaries and ministers, and bring us all to the redeemed in glory, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Great is Thy faithfulness.-Lam. 3: 23.

AY we never forget to be thankful to Thee, our Father. Thou dost daily load us with benefits. Thou art continually planning for our welfare; yet we are indifferent to Thy great goodness. We pray, and our prayers are answered, but we forget often to say, "Thank you."

Make us more mindful of Thee, of our dependence upon Thee, and of Thy readiness to supply all our needs. Then may we do more than speak our praise; may we live our praise, and show our love to Thee by our acts.

Be present with us in our home. Teach us to trust Thee, to listen to Thy Word, to do Thy will. Teach us the joy of serving Thee. When doubt disturbs us, may we have a vision of Thee that will take away all distress. Forbid it that we should darken the days of others by doubting words.

Forgive our sins, and make us more earnest in prayers, in gifts, in service. Let our home be a center from which blessings go out to neighbors near and far. And show us how to live always to the praise of Thy Holy Name. Amen.

JOHN T. FARIS, D.D.,

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. -2 John 5: 14-15.

UR Father, it is with reverence we bow to Thee. We thank Thee for every blessing of life, for we realize that Thou art the Giver of every good and perfect gift. We pray that every member of this household may realize that God hath a purpose in every individual life; may it be the highest ambition of our lives to know what God would have us do. May the Holy Spirit ever abide with us and direct us in all the things Thou hast made it possible for us to do. May Thy love for us, as manifested in so many ways, constrain us to serve and honor Thee our Father.

Dear Lord, we commit ourselves with all we have and are, into Thy loving care, and would ask Thee to bless us, keep us, guide us, forgive our sins, and finally take us to Thyself with all the redeemed. We ask it in Jesus' Name and for His sake. Amen.

Jesus said, I thank Thee and Praise Thee, O Lord of Heaven.-Matt. 11: 25.

OUR Father, we thank Thee for all Thy gracious

care, new every morning and continued every evening; for life and health; for food and raiment and home; for Thy presence which sanctifies and blesses all our human relationships.

May we spend this day as in Thy sight. Keep us, we pray, pure in heart and clean in life. Make us strong in temptation, brave in danger, patient and courageous in sorrow or trial, faithful in every trust. Preserve undimmed the light that glows on our home altar. Guard our lips, that we may speak no unkind or thoughtless word; our hearts, that we may think unselfish and generous thoughts; and our hands, that we may help one another.

If it be best for us, keep us from sickness and death, that in gladness we may serve Thee; but if misfortune befall us, do Thou draw us close to Thyself and comfort us, that our faith may not fail.

Bless all homes. Have compassion on the homeless. Through human kindness make Thy love known to all men, and in mercy grant us a place at length in Thy Heavenly home, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
