CHRIST, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true, the only light; Sun of Righteousness, arise,
Triumph o'er the shades of night; Day-spring from on high, be near; Day-star, in our hearts appear.
Dark and cheerless is the morn,
Unaccompanied by Thee;
Till Thy mercy's beams we see ;
Visit every soul of Thine,
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
Scatter all our unbelief;
To the Saviour, Christ, His Son,
Everlasting Three in One:
Our daily labour to pursue ; Thee, only Thee, resolved to know
In all we think, or speak, or do.
O let us cheerfully fulfil;
And prove Thy good and perfect will.
To spend for Thee what Thou hast given, And run our course with hope and joy,
Till with Thy saints we enter heaven. To Thee, great Lord, the One in Three !
Let praise for evermore ascend : And grant us in our home to see
The heavenly life that knows no end.
GLORY to Thee, my God, this night, Teach me to live, that I may dread
For all the blessings of the light ; The grave as little as my bed ;
Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear Son, O let my soul on Thee repose !
To serve my God when I awake.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
THROUGH the day Thy love has spared us;
Wearied, we lie down to rest :
JESUS, Thou our Guardian be ;
Pilgrims here on earth, and strangers,
Dwelling in the midst of foes,
And, when life's sad day is past,
