4 'Tis faith that conquers earth and hell
By a celestial power;

This is the grace that shall prevail
In the decisive hour.

5 Faith must obey the Father's will,
As well as trust his grace:

A pard'ning God is jealous still
For his own holiness.

6 When from the curse he sets us free,
He makes our natures clean:

Nor would he send his Son to be
The minister of sin.

7 This Spirit purifies our frame,
And seals our peace with God:
Jesus, and his salvation, came
By water and by blood.

Hymn 111.

C. M.

All things are possible to him that believeth.

Mark ix. 23.

LL things are possible to him.

Α'

That does in Jesu's name believe; Lord, I no more thy name blaspheme ; Thy truth I lovingly receive;

I can, I do believe in thee, All things are possible to me. 2 The most impossible of all

Is that I e'er from sin should cease;
Yet shall it be, I know it shall;
Through Jesu's all-sufficient grace:
If nothing is too hard for thee,
All things are possible to me.

3 Thy mouth, O Lord, hath spoke, hath sworn,
That I shall serve thee without fear;
Shall find the pearl which others spurn,
Holy, and pure, and perfect here;
The servant as his Lord shall be;
All things are possible to me.

4 All things are possible to God,

To Christ the power of God in man;
To me, when I am all renew'd,
When I in Christ am form'd again,
And witness from all sin set free,
All things are possible to me.

Hymn 112. C. M.

That in him should all fulness dwell. Col. i. 19.

1

KNOW in Christ all fulness dwells,

Iand all for wretched man,

To heal the wounds my spirit feels,
And break off every chain.

2 If thou impart thyself to me,
No other good I need:

If thou, the Son, shalt make me free,
I shall be free indeed.

3 I cannot rest till in thy blood

I fall redemption have:

But thou, through whom I come to God,
Canst to the utmost save.

4 From sin-the guilt, the power, the pain,
Thou wilt redeem my soul:

Lord, I believe, and not in vain,

Thy grace shall make me whole.

5 I too shall walk with thee in white,
With all thy saints shall prove,
What is the length, and breadth, and height,
And depth of perfect love.

Hymn 113. C. M.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity. Titus ii. 14.

HAT is our calling's glorious hope,
But inward holiness?

WHAT

For this to Jesus I look up,

And calmly wait for this.

2 I wait till he shall make me clean,
Shall life and love impart,
Until the power of faith within,
-Shall purify my heart.

3 This is the dear redeeming grace ;
For every creature free;
Surely it shall in me take place,
The chief of sinners, me.

4 From all iniquity, from all,
He shall my soul redeem:
In Jesus I believe, and shall
Believe myself to him.

5 When Jesus makes my heart his home,`
My sin shall all depart:

And lo! he saith I quickly come,
To fill and rule thy heart.”

6 Be it according to thy word, Redeem me from all sin:

My heart would now receive thee, Lord!
Come in, my Lord, come in.

Hymn 114. P. M.

NONE

Deut. xxxiii. 26-29,

TONE is like Jeshurun's God!
So great, so strong, so high!
Lo! he spreads his wings abroad:
He rides upon the sky!
Israel is his first-born son :

God, the eternal God is thine,
See in him thy help come down,
The excellence divine.

2 Thee, the great Jehovah deigns
To succour and defend;
Thee, the eternal God sustains,
Thy Maker and thy Friend:
My soul, what hast thou to dread?
Safe from all impending harms,
Round thee, and beneath are spread
The everlasting arms.

3 God is thine: disdain to fear
The enemy within:

God shall in thy flesh appear,
And make an end of sin;
God the man of sin shall slay,
Fill thee with triumphant joy;
God shall thrust him out, and say,
Destroy them all, destroy!"

4 All the struggle then is o'er,
And wars and fightings cease;
Israel then shall sin no more,
But dwell in perfect peace.
All his enemies are gone;

Sin shall have in him no part;
Israel now shall dwell alone,
With Jesus in his heart.

5 In a land of corn and wine,
His lot shall be below:
Comforts there and blessings join,
And milk and honey flow.
Jacob's fountain in his soul;
Gracious dews his heaven distil;
Fill his soul, already full,

And shall for ever fill.

6 Blest, O Israel, art thou!
What people is like thee?
Sav'd from sin, by Jesus, now
Thou art, and still shalt be:
Jesus is thy sevenfold shield,
Jesus is thy flaming sword;
Earth, and hell, and sin, shall yield
To God's almighty word.

Hymn 115. L. M.

Perfecting holiness in the fear of God, 2 Cor.

1

vii. 1.

H That holiness I long to feel;

E wills that I should holy be;

That full divine conformity

To all my Saviour's righteous will.
