3 But Christ can all my sins forgive,

And wash away their stain; Can fit my soul with him to live,

And in his kingdom reign.
4 To hiin let little children come,

For he hath said they may ;
His bosom then shall be their home,

Their tears he'll wipo away.
5 For all who early seck his face,

Shall surely taste his love;
Jesus shall guide them by his grace,
And dwell with them above.

Othat the Lord would guide my ways,

To keep his stautes still ;
O that my God would grant mo grace

To know and do his will!
2 O send thy Spirit down, to write

Thy law upon niy heart!
Nor let my tongue indulge deceit,

Nor act the liar's part.
3 Order my footsteps by thy word,

And make my heart sincero ; Let sin have no dominion, Lord,

But keep my conscience clear. - Make me to walk in thy commands

'Tis a delightful road; Nor let my head, nor heart, nor hands,

Offond against my God.

C. M. Həw sov'reign was that gracious voice

Which first inclin'd your ear To listen to the heavenly voice

That taught the worth of prayer. 2 Now you can bow before the throne,

And plead & Saviour's blood; Can all your griefs and woes bemoan

Before a gracious God. 3 His ear, attentive to your call,

Regards your every sigh; And when you fear that you shall fall,

He brings salvation nigh. 4 He loves to see each humble soul

Lie prostrate in the dust, And, though the waves of trouble roll,

In God to put their trust.
5 This is well pleasing to the Lord,

Their cries attract His ear;
They plead His never-failing word-

And God delights to hear. 6 Thrice happy they who thus are blest,

Who thus surround the throne;
He will compose their troubled breast,

And make their wants his own.

When daily I kneel down to pray,

As I am taught to do,
God does not care for what I say,

Unless I feel it too. 2 Yet foolish thoughts my heart beguile;

And when I pray or sing,
I'm often thinking, all the while,

About some other thing. 30! let me never, never dare

To act a trifler's part,
Or think that God will hear a prayer

That comes not from the heart. 4 But if I make his ways my choice,

As holy children do, Then, while I seek him with my voice,

My heart will love him too.

C. M. Let all the heathen writers join

To form one perfect book: Great God! if once compar'd with thine,

How mean their writings look !

1

2 Not the most perfect rules they gave,

Could show one sin forgiven,
Nor lead a step beyond the grave ;

But thine eonduct to heaven. 3 Thy word is eve:lasting truth

How pure is every page!
That holy book shall guide our youth,
And well support our age.

How precious is the bock divine,

By inspiration given !
Bright as a lamp its doctrines shine,

To guide our souls to heaven. 2 It sweetly checrs our drooping hearts,

In this dark vale of tears;
Life, light, and joy, it still imparts,

And quells our rising fears. 3 This lamp, through all the tedious night

Of life, shall guide our way,
Till we behold the clearer light
Of an eternal day.

FATHER of mercies : in :hy word

What endless glory shines :
For ever be thy name ador'd,

For those celestial linen!

2 O may there heavenly pages be

My ever dear delight;
And still new beauties may I see,

And still increasing light.
3 Divina Instructor, gracicus Lord,

Po thou for ever near:
Turch me to love thy sacred word,

And view my Saviour there.

Let us unite to less the Lord,
That we are taught to read his word
To walk in wisdom's pleasant ways,
And seek his grace, and sing his praise.
2 While wicked boys and girls we mest,

Breaking the Sabbath in the street,
Mispending all that holy day

In foolish talk or idle play;
3 We to thy sacred house of prayer,
With gratitude would oft repair,
T'adore thy name, and scek thy face,
And hear the messages

of

grace. 4 The truths thy gospel, Lord, imparts,

Apply with power to all our hearts ; Whilst thou art calling, make us hcar, And worship thee with holy fear.
