FAMILY PRAYERS.

For the Morning of Sundays and Festivals.

[blocks in formation]

We adore Thee, we bless Thee, we praise Thee, we magnify Thee for ever.

O God the Son, Emmanuel, God with us, at whose Name every knee shall bow, of things in Heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth,

We adore Thee, we bless Thee, we praise Thee, we magnify Thee, for ever.

O God the Holy Ghost, Spirit of truth, that teachest all things, Spirit of the Lord, that fillest the world,

We adore Thee, we bless Thee, we praise Thee, we magnify Thee, for ever.

Holy Trinity, One God, to Whom Alone all honour and glory is due, Who Alone art good, in Whom we live and move and have our being,

We adore Thee, we bless Thee, we praise Thee, we magnify Thee, for ever.

It is indeed truly just, right, and fitting to praise and to glorify, to worship and adore, to thank and to

magnify, Thee the great Maker of all creatures, visible and invisible; the Treasure of all good, temporal and eternal; the Fountain of all life, mortal and immortal; the Lord and God of all things in Heaven and in earth; the merciful Father of all.

Here shall follow a commemoration of the Day or Season, beginning with these words: But chiefly at this time do we thank Thee for, the remaining words of the special thanksgiving, or commemoration, shall be at the discretion of the Master.

¶ And then all shall say together,

HOLY AND BLESSED art Thou, King of eternal ages, Fountain and Giver of all righteousness.

HOLY art Thou, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ,

Redeemer of the world.

HOLY art Thou, O Blessed Spirit, that searchest all

things, even the depths and

hidden things of God. HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, Lord God of hosts, Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of thy glory.

Then shall the Reader say lone,

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

INCLI

Let us pray. NCLINE mercifully thine ears, O Lord, to the words of our prayer, and fill our hearts with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that we loving Thee with an eternal love may be accepted in these our supplications and praises; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GOD, who dost purify thine Elect, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto Thee an burn our hearts and reins offering in righteousness,

we beseech Thee, with the fire of thy Holy Spirit, that we may serve Thee with a with a pure mind; through chaste body, and please Thee Jesus Christ our Lord. A

we beseech Thee, O Lord, and cleanse our consciences, that our Lord Jesus Christ, when He cometh, may find us a mansion prepared for Himself, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the Unity of the Holy Ghost, One God, world without end. Amen.

Then shall be said the Collect for the day.

¶ And after that an intercessory or other Prayer, at the discretion of the Master.

After which as follows, to the end.

OUR

Lord have mercy upon us. Christ have mercy upon us. Lord have mercy upon us. UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

V. Thy Testimonies are wonderful, O God; therefore doth my soul keep them.

R. When thy Word goeth

forth, it giveth light and understanding unto the simple. V. Send out thy light and thy truth, O Lord, that they may lead us,

R. And bring us to thy holy hill, and to thy dwelling.

Let us pray.

LORD God, our Creator, who hast given us life and being, and hast shown unto us the way of salvation, vouchsafing unto us the revelation of heavenly mysteries, and hast commanded us to worship Thee in the power of the Holy Ghost, and obedience of the Lord Jesus, be Thou well pleased, O Lord, with this and all other our duty and service; and grant that with a holy fear, and a pure conscience, we may now and always present unto Thee an hallowed Sacrifice of prayer thanksgiving; that Thou mayest receive it in heaven, as Thou dost ever receive the humble offerings of thy faithful people; that they being sanctified by the Holy Ghost, and accepted in the Lord Jesus, may be incorporated into his Body, and adopted into the participation of his holiness and sufferings that so being pardoned by his mercy, and

and

confirmed by his strength; professing his religion, and believing in his word; hoping in his promises, and keeping all his commandments; they may receive the reward of faithful and wise stewards in the day of thy righteous judgments. Grant this, O God, for his sake, Who is the Food of our souls, and the Joy of our hearts, the Object of our faith and hope,

and the great Example of charity and of all virtues, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Who with Thee, and the Holy Ghost, ever liveth and reigneth, One God, Blessed for ever. Amen. THE Grace of our Lord

Jesus Christ, and the Love of God, and the Fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

FAMILY PRAYERS.

For the Morning of Fast Days and Penitential Seasons.

¶ Let all devoutly kneeling make Confession, the Reader saying, and the rest answering, as follows,

LORD, the great and dreadful God, keeping covenant and mercy with them that love Thee and keep thy commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled even by departing from thy precepts, and from thy judgments.

We confess, O Lord, we confess our sins: our iniquities testify against us.

O Lord God, we confess that, although we have known Thee to be the only God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we have not given ourselves unto Thee in all holy fear and obedience, nor loved Thee with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our mind.

We repent, O our God, we repent: Lord, be Thou merciful to us sinners.

We confess, O God, that we have not worshipped Thee in spirit and in truth,

but have set up idols in our hearts, and so have provoked Thee to jealousy.

We repent, O our God, we repent: Lord, be Thou merciful to us sinners.

We confess, O God, that we have without due regard taken thy holy Name in our mouth, and instead of giving occasion to others to sanctify it, have caused it to be evil spoken of through our own evil words and works.

We repent, O our God, we repent: Lord, be Thou merciful to us sinners.

We confess, O God, that we have not hallowed thy holy days as we ought; that we have been slow in our attendance in thy sanctuary, and negligent in our use of thy holy Ordinances; and so have failed to prepare ourselves for the eternal rest which remaineth for thy people in Heaven.

We repent, O our God, we repent: Lord, be Thou merciful to us sinners.
