17 So Abraham prayed unto God and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants; and they bare children.

18 For the LORD had faft clofed up all the wombs of the houfe of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abrahams wife.

31 Wherefore he called that place Beersheba: the well of because there they fware both of them.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beerfheba: then Abimelech rofe up, and Phichol the chief captain of his hoft, and they returned into the land of the Philiftines.

33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beerfheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.

34 And Abraham fojourned in the Philistines land many days.

Nd it came to pafs after these things, that 2 God did tempt Abraham, and faid unto 17. him, Abraham: And he faid, + Behold, here I am. 2 And he faid, Take now thy fon, thine only 2 Chron. fon Ifaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

9 And they came to the place which God had told him of, and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order; and bound Ifaac his fon, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to flay his fon.

11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and faid, Abraham, Abraham. And he faid, Here am I.

12 And he faid, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou feareft God, feeing thou haft not withheld thy fon, thine only fn from me.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: And Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt-offering, in the ftead of his fon.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is faid to this day, In the mount of the LORD it fhall be feen. 15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience Before of the people of the land, faying, But if thou wilt Christ give it, I pray thee hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.

14 And Ephron anfwered Abram, faying unto him,

15 My lord, hearken unto me: e land is dExod. worth four hundred d fhekels of filver, what is that 30.15. betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.

16 And Abraham hearkned unto Ephron, and Abraham weighed to Ephron the filver, which he had named in the audience of the fons of Heth, four hundred fhekels of filver, current money with the merchant.

ANd Sarah was even the cave therein, 7

2 And Sarah died in a Kirjath-arba; the fame is Hebron in the land of Canaan: And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

b I am a ftranger and a fojourner with you: give me a poffeffion of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my fight.

5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, faying unto him,

6 Hear us, my lord; thou art a mighty prince amongst us; in the choice of our fepulchres bury thy dead: none of us fhall withhold from thee his fepulchre, but that thou mayeft bury thy dead.

7 And Abraham ftood up, and bowed himfelf to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.

8 And he communed with them, faying, If it be your mind that I fhould bury my dead out of my fight, hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the fon of Zohar:

9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for † as much money as it is worth he fhall give it me, for a poffeffion of a burying-place amongst you.

10 And Ephron dwelt amongst the children of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite anfwered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gates of his city, faying,

32 And the man came into the house: and he ungirdled his camels, and gave ftraw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the mens feet that were with him.

33 And there was fet meat before him to eat : but he faid, I will not eat until I have told mine" errant. And he faid, Speak on.

34 And he faid, I am Abrahams fervant.

35 And the LORD hath bleffed my mafter greatly, and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and filver, and gold, and men-fervants,and maid-servants, and camels, and affes.

40 And he faid unto me, The LORD 9 before Chap. 17. whom I walk, will fend his angel with thee, and profper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for fon of my kindred, and of my fathers house. 41 Then fhalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comeft to my kindred; and if they give not thee cn, thou fhalt be clear from my oath.

44 And the fay to me, Both drink thou, and I will alfo draw for thy camels: let the fame be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my mafters fon.

45 And before I had done fpeaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her fhoulder; and fhe went down unto the well, and drew water: and I faid unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.

46 And she made hafte, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and faid, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink alfo: fo I drank, and fhe

made the camels drink alfo.

47 And I asked her, and faid, Whose daughter art thou? And the faid, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahors fon, whom Milcah bare unto him: and 1 put the ear-ring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands."

48 And I bowed down my head,and worshipped the LORD, and bleffed the LORD God of my mafter Abraham,which had led me in the right way to take my mafters brothers daughter unto his fon.

49 And now if you will deal kindly and truly with my mafter, tell me and if not, tell me ; that I may turn to the right hand,or to the left.

50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered, and faid, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.

51 Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy mafters fons wife, as the LORD hath fpoken.

52 And it came to pass, that when Abrahams 5. 26. fervant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

65 For fhe had faid unto the fervant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the fervant had faid,It is my master: therefore fhe took a vail and covered her self.

66 And the fervant told Ifaac all things that he had done.
