5 Only, O Lord, in Thy dear love
Fit us for perfect rest above :
L. M. 1 JESU, Lord of heavenly grace,
Thou brightness of Thy Father's face, Thou Fountain of eternal light,
Whose beams disperse the shades of night! 2 Come, holy Sun of heavenly love,
Shower down Thy radiance from above;
The Holy Spirit's cloudless ray. 3 O hallow this returning day!
Let meekness be our morning ray,
And hope our sunset calm and bright. 4 O Christ, with each succeeding morn
Thine image to our hearts is borne ;
1 (LORY to Thee, my God, this night,
U For all the blessings of the light!
2 Forgive me, Lord, for Thy dear Son,
The ill that I this day have done;
I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.
The grave as little as my bed ;
Rise glorious at the awful day.
And may sweet sleep mine eyelids close,
To serve my God when I awake.
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
1 CUN of my soul ! Thou Saviour dear,
D It is not night if Thou be near :
To hide Thee from Thy servants' eyes !
For ever on my Saviour's breast ! 3 Abide with me from morn till eve,
For without Thee I cannot live;
1 Come near and bless us when we wake,
Ere through the world our way we take ;
To bless Thy fostering hand.
To cheer us, as we pray;
And we are weak as they.
And let contention cease,
Thine everlasting peace !
A flock by Jesus led,
In glory on our head.
And Thou wilt bless our way,
P. M. i THROUGH the day Thy love hath spared us ;
I Now we lay us down to rest ;
Let no foe our peace molest;
Jesu, Thou our Guardian be,
Sweet it is to trust in Thee !
Dwelling in the midst of foes,
In Thine arms may we repose ;
Morning or Evening. 1 MY God, how endless is Thy love!
11 Thy gifts are every evening new; And morning mercies from above
Gently distil like early dew.
Great Guardian of my sleeping hours !
And quickens all my drowsy powers. 3 1 yield my powers to Thy command ;
To Thee I consecrate my days; Perpetual blessings from Thy hand
Demand perpetual songs of praise.
THE LORD'S DAY.
I He calls the hours His own :
And praise surround the throne.
2 To day He rose, and left the dead,
And Satan's empire fell;
And all His wonders tell.
With messages of grace ;
To save our sinful race.
The Church on earth can raise !
Shall give Him nobler praise.
L. M. 1 ANOTHER six days' work is done,
A Another Sabbath is begun :
Improve the day thy God hath blest.
As grateful incense to the skies :
Is the dear pledge of glorious rest,
The end of cares, the end of pains. 4 In holy duties let the day,
In holy pleasures, pass away;
