C. M. 1 HARK, the glad sound! the Saviour comes,
1 The Saviour promised long; Let every heart prepare a throne,
And every voice a song.
In Satan's bondage held ;
The iron fetters yield.
The bleeding soul to cure,
To bless the humble poor.
Thy welcome shall proclaim,
With Thy beloved Name.
1 NOME, Thou long-expected Jesus,
U Born to set Thy people free,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Joy of every longing heart !
2 Born Thy people to deliver,
Born a Child, and yet a King ;
Now Thy promised kingdom bring.
Rule in all our hearts alone;
L. M. 1 LOSANNA to the living Lord !
II Hosanna to the incarnate Word !
Let earth, let heaven, Hosanna sing ! 2 O Saviour! with protecting care,
Return to this Thy house of prayer,
Where we Thy parting promise claim ! 3 But chiefest, in our cleansed breast,
Bid Thine eternal Spirit rest,
A temple pure, and worthy Thee ! 4 So, in the last and dreadful day,
When earth and heaven shall melt away,
P. M. 1 TIGHT of those whose dreary dwelling
1] Borders on the shades of death,
Dissipate the clouds beneath !
Thou of life and light Creator !
In our deepest darkness rise ;
Pouring daylight on our eyes.
Life and joy Thy beams impart,
Every meek and contrite heart.
Thou hast for our ransomed race;
Manifest Thy heavenly grace !
O Thou Prince of Peace and Love,
Raise our hearts to things above !
Every burdened soul release;
Guide us to Thy perfect peace.
10 SAVIOUR, is Thy promise fled ?
Nor longer may Thy grace endure,
And preach Thy gospel to the poor? 2 Come, Jesus, come ! return again ;
With brighter beam Thy servants bless,
3 A feeble race, by passion driven,
In darkness and in doubt we roam,
Our hope, our harbour, and our home. 4 Come, Jesus, come! and as of yore
The prophet went to clear Thy way,
A dawning to Thy brighter day;
Our stony hearts for truth prepare;
Then come and reap Thy harvest there!
I Once for favoured sinners slain;
Jesus shall for ever reign. 2 Every eye shall now behold Him
Robed in dreadful majesty ;
Shall the true Messiah see. 3 Now redemption, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear !
4 Yea, Amen ! let all adore Thee,
High on Thine eternal throne !
O come quickly!
1 LARK ! the herald angels sing
II Glory to the new-born King !
“ Christ is born in Bethlehem.”
Christ, the everlasting Lord,
Jesus, our Immanuel !
Hail the Sun of Righteousness !
