All that Spring, with bounteous hand,
Scatters o'er the smiling land;
All that lib'ral Autumn pours
From her overflowing stores;
These, great God! to thee we owe ;
Source, whence all our blessings flow;
And for these our souls shall raise
Grateful vows and solemn praise.
Holy, holy, holy Lord!

Be thou by heav'n and earth ador'd.

(8-8-6.)

36-MAY we thy precepts, Lord, fulfil,

To do on earth our Father's will,

As angels do above;

To walk in Christ, the living way,
With all thy children, and obey
The law of christian love.

So may we join thy name to bless,
Thy grace adore, thy pow'r confess,
From sin and strife to free:

One is our calling, one our name,
The end of all our hope the same—
A crown of life with thee.

Spirit of life, of love, of peace,
Unite our hearts, our joy increase,
Thy gracious help supply:
To ev'ry soul the blessing give,
In christian fellowship to live;
In joyful hope to die.

(D. L. M.)

37-0 GOD, thou art my God alone,

Early to thee my

soul shall cry,

A pilgrim in a land unknown,

A thirsty land whose springs are dry.
Yet through this rough and thorny maze
I follow hard on thee, my God;
Thine hand unseen upholds my ways,
I safely tread where thou hast trod.

Thee, in the watches of the night,
When I remember on my bed,

Thy presence makes the darkness light,
Thy guardian wings are round my head,
Better than life itself thy love,

Dearer than all beside to me;

For whom have I in heav'n above,

Or what on earth compar'd with Thee?

HYMN.

-

Awake my soul, and, with the sun,
1 Again returns the day of holy rest,
5 Come, O Saviour, long expected,
13 Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,
14 Creator Spirit! by whose aid,
17 Children of the Heav'nly King,

16 Great God! what do I see and hear?
18 Grateful notes and numbers bring,
25 Glory to thee, my God, this night,
26 God, who madest earth and heav'n,
30 Great God! o'er heav'n and earth supreme,
33 Great is the Lord our God,

3 How sweet thy dwellings, Lord, how fair,
8 Hark! the Herald Angels sing, -

9 Hail, thou source of ev'ry blessing,
11 Jesus Christ is ris'n to-day,

[ocr errors]

2 Lord, again we meet before thee,
6 Lo! He comes, with clouds descending,
19 Lord, when we bend before thy throne,
24 Lord, dismiss us with thy blessing,
28 Lord, no forbidding voice is here,
32 Lord, if thou thy grace impart,
21 Mighty God! the Holy One,
22 My God! and is thy table spread?
31 Mighty God! while Angels bless thee,
36 May we thy precepts, Lord, fulfil,
10 O'er the gloomy hills of darkness,
12 Oh joyful sound! Oh glorious hour!
29 Oh thou! who from the infant's tongue,
37 Oh God, thou art my God alone,
35 Praise to God, immortal praise,
27 Sun of my soul! thou Saviour dear,
4 This is the day the Lord hath blest,
15 To God the Father, God the Son,
20 There is a land of pure delight,
