And once more, while distinctions in rank

in this world are the Lord's own appointment, and "each one is to abide in the calling wherein he was called," is there not often a lack of sympathy, on the part of Christian employers, with the difficulties and trials which more or less accompany the position of those who serve? If they are followers of the same blessed Master as ourselves, we are journeying to the same home, where we shall meet on common ground. There may be an abuse of kindness-a forgetfulness of their relative positions, but there need not be, and the servant ought to be able to look upon her master and mistress as her friends, to whom she can go for sympathy, help, and counsel at all times.

The responsibilities of those who rule are very great. We need much wisdom and

grace to do so in all things as unto the Lord." Eliezer of Damascus was a faithful servant, but what do we read of Eliezer's master? "For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him." (Gen. xviii. 19.) Oh, then, let us see that in our families and households we let our light shine, and that each of us "in the calling wherein we are called, therein abide with God!"
