Thou didst bear in thy womb the Life, the pure Mother-of-God, O Divine-minded Anna: wherefore, rejoicing, thou art now translated to the Heavenly lot, where thou dwellest in Glory, cheering those who in fonddesire honour thee, craving propitiation of stumblings, O ever-Blessed.

EVE OF THE HOLY TRANSFIGURATION. (AUG. 5TH.)

Let us advance to meet the Transfiguration of CHRIST; joyously panegyrizing the eve of the feast, let us cry-aloud: He anticipates the day of the inspired mirth; the MASTER goes-up to the mountain of Thabor, that He might flash forth the fulness of His Divinity.

AUG. 6TH.

When Thou wast Transfigured in the mountain, O CHRIST the GOD, Thy Glory shone-forth to Thy Disciples, so that they were overpowered. Illuminate also us, the sinners, with Thine everlasting Light, through the intercessions of the Theotokos. O Giver-of-Light, Glory to Thee.

Glory to the FATHER, and to the SON, and to the Holy GHOST.
When Thou wast Transfigured, &c. As immediately above.

EVE OF THE REPOSE OF THE THEOTOKOS. (Aug. 14TH.)

Ye people leap, clap your hands, and with fond-desire faithfully gather together; to-day rejoice all, and cheerily exult in mirth: for the Mother of GOD, of those on earth, is about to be lifted gloriously to those above: whom, as Theotokos, in hymns let us ever glorify.

AUG. 15TH-23RD.

In the Bringing-forth thou didst guard virginity: in the Repose thou didst not forsake the world, O Theotokos: thou art translated to the Life, who art Mother of the Life; and by thine intercessions thou dost deliver our souls from death.

APPENDIX F.

THE BLESSING OF THE BREAD, WHEAT, WINE, AND OIL,

SAID AT VESPERS OF FESTIVALS.

¶After the Theotokion at page 18.

¶ The Table being prepared in the middle of the Church, the Deacon censes it around, saying three times:

Hail Mary, full-of-grace, O Virgin Theotokos, the LORD is with thee; Blessed art Thou among women, and Blessed is the Fruit of thy Womb, for thou hast brought-forth the Saviour of our souls.

The Priest taking one of the loaves, makes with it the sign of the Cross upon

the others, saying aloud the following Prayer:

O LORD JESUS CHRIST our GOD, Who didst bless the five loaves in the desert, and didst feed five-thousand men: bless Thou these loaves, the wheat, the wine, and the oil, and multiply them in this city, and to all Thy world, and sanctify those who partake of them in faith. For Thou art the Blessing and Sanctification of all-things, O CHRIST our GOD: and we ascribe Glory to Thee, with Thy FATHER Unoriginate, and to Thine All-Holy, and Good, and Life-giving SPIRIT, now, and ever, and to the ages of the ages.

Choir. Amene.

Blessed is the Name of the LORD, from henceforth, and to the ages.
Blessed is the Name of the LORD, from henceforth, and to the ages.
Blessed is the Name of the LORD, from henceforth, and to the ages.
Glory to the FATHER, and to the SON, and to the Holy GHOST:
Both now, and ever, and to the ages of the ages. Amene.

Psalm 33.

I will bless the LORD at all times, His praise shall be continually in my mouth.

My soul shall be praised in the LORD: let the meek hear, and rejoice. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His Name together.

I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all mine afflictions.

Draw near to Him, and be enlightened, and your faces shall not be ashamed.

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and delivered him from all his afflictions.

An Angel of the LORD shall encamp around them that fear Him, and shall deliver them.

O taste and see that the LORD is Good: blessed is the man that hopeth in Him.

O fear the LORD, all ye His Saints, for there is no want to them that fear Him.

The rich have become poor and hungry: but they that seek the LORD shall not at all be deprived of good.

Glory to the FATHER, and to the Son, and to the Holy GHOST :
Both now, and ever, and to the ages of the ages. Amene.

Deacon. Of the LORD let us pray.

Choir. LORD, have mercy.

Priest. The Blessing and mercy of the LORD Himself come upon you, by the Divine Grace and Love-to-men, always, now, and ever, and to the ages of the ages.

CONTAKIA OF THE RESURRECTION.

At pages 23, 77, 103, 137, 142, and 148.

TONE 2.

O Saviour, All-powerful, Thou hast Risen from the Grave; and Hades, beholding, was filled with amazement; and the dead have been raised; and the Creation beholding, joins in hailing Thee; and Adam also exults; and the world hymns Thee ever, my Saviour.

TONE 3.

To-day Thou hast Risen from the Grave, O Compassionate, and hast lifted us from the gates of death; to-day Adam rejoices, and Eve hails Thee, and, together with the Patriarchs and Prophets, they hymn unceasingly the Divine Strength of Thine Authority.

TONE 4.

My Saviour and Deliverer hath Risen, as GOD, from the Grave, out of the bonds of the earth-born; and hath shattered the gates of Hades; and, as MASTER, hath Risen the third day.

TONE 5.

My Saviour, Thou didst descend into Hades, and, as All-powerful, shatteredst the gates; and, as Creator, raisedst-up the dead, and the sting of Death didst destroy, O CHRIST; and deliveredst Adam from the curse, O Lover-of-men: wherefore all cry to Thee, Save us, O Lord.

TONE 6.

The Palm of the Life-originator raised everywhere the dead from the gloomy depths, the Life-giver, CHRIST the GOD, the Resurrection Judge of mortal nature: for He is Saviour of all, Resurrection, and Life, and GOD of all.

TONE 7.

No more the strength of death keepeth-back with might the mortals, for CHRIST, of Himself, going-down, crushed and loosened the Powers, binding Hades; the Prophets with one voice exult, saying: He is set-up a Saviour to those in faith; come out, ye faithful, to the Resurrection.

TONE 8.

At the Resurrection from the Tomb the departed were awakened, and Adam was raised-up; and Eve rejoices in Thy Resurrection, and the ends of the world keep public festival of Thy Rising from the dead, O Thou of many mercies.
