LORD, I believe a reft remains

To all thy people known;

A reft where pure enjoyment reigns, And Thou art lov'd alone.

II.

Celestial Spirit, make me know
That I fhall enter in:

Now, Saviour, now the pow'r bestow,
And wash me from my fin.

III.

Remove this hardness from my heart,
This unbelief remove;
To me the reft of faith impart,
The fabbath of thy love.

IV.

Come, O my Saviour, come away,
Into my foul descend;

No longer from thy creature ftay,
My author, and my end.

CXXVII. Chrift the Shepherd. P. M.

THE

I.

HE Lord my pasture shall prepare, And feed me with a fhepherd's care; His prefence fhall my wants fupply, And guard me with a watchful eye; My noon-day walks he fhall attend, And all my midnight hours defend.

II.

When in the fultry glebe I faint,
Or on the thirsty mountain pant,
To fertile vales and dewy meads
My weary, wand'ring fteps he leads,
Where peaceful rivers foft and flow,
Amid the verdant landscape flow.

III.

Though in the paths of death I tread,
With gloomy horrors overspread,
My ftedfaft heart fhall fear no ill,
For Thou, O Lord, art with me ftill:
Thy friendly crook fhall give me aid,
And guide me through the dreadful shade.

IV.

Though in a bare and rugged way,
Through devious lonely wilds I ftray,

Thy bounty fhall my pains beguile,
The barren wilderness fhall smile,

With fudden greens and herbage crown'd,
And streams fhall murmur all around.

CXXVIII. Grateful review of the conduct of Providence. C. M.

I.

WHE
HEN all thy mercies, O my God,

My rifing foul furveys;

Transported with the view I'm loft
In wonder, love, and praise.

II.

Thy providence my life fuftain'd,
And all my wants redrest,
When in the filent womb I lay,
And hung upon the breast.

III.

Unnumber'd comforts on my foul

Thy tender care bestow'd,

Before

my infant heart conceiv'd

From whom those comforts flow'd.

IV.

When in the flipp'ry paths of youth,
With heedless steps I ran,
Thine arm, unfeen, convey'd me safe,
And led me on to man.

V.

When worn by fickness, oft haft Thou
With health renew'd my face;
And, when in fins and forrows funk,
Reviv'd foul with grace.

my

VI.

Through ev'ry period of my life
Thy goodness I'll pursue;
And after death in distant worlds
The glorious theme renew.

VII.

When nature fails, and day and night
Divide thy works no more,
My ever grateful heart, O Lord,
Thy mercy fhall adore.

VIII.

Through all eternity, to Thee
A joyful fong I'll raise;

For 'tis eternity alone
Can utter all thy praise.

CXXIX. Privileges of God's children. 7s.

B

I.

LESSED are the fons of God,

They are bought with Chrift's own blood, They are ranfom'd from the grave,

Life eternal they shall have:
God did love them in his Son,
Long before the world begun:
They the feal of this receive,
When on Jefus they believe.

II.

They are juftify'd by grace,
They enjoy a folid peace:
All their fins are wash'd away,
They shall stand in God's great day:
They produce the fruits of grace
In the works of righteousness:
They are harmless, meek, and mild,
Holy, humble, undefil'd.

III.

They are lights upon the earth,
Children of a heav'nly birth;
Born of God they hate all fin,
God's pure feed remains within;
