Love me freely, feal my peace,
And bid me weep no more.

LV. In diftrefs of Soul. P. M.

I.

ESU, lover of my foul,

JES

Let me to thy bosom fly,

While the billows near me roll,
While the tempeft ftill is high:
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the form of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide,
Oh receive my foul at last!

II.

Other refuge have 1 none,

Hangs my helplefs foul on Thee;
Leave, Oh! leave me not alone,
Still fupport and comfort me:
All my trust on Thee is ftay'd,
All mine help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenceless head

With the shadow of thy wing.

III.

Thou, O Chrift, art all I want,
Boundless love in Thee I find:

Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the fick, and lead the blind.
Juft and holy is thy name,
I am all unrighteousness:

Vile and full of fin I am,

Thou art full of truth and

grace.

Plenteous grace with Thee is found,
Grace to pardon all my fin;
Let the healing ftreams abound,
Make and keep me pure within:
Thou of life the fountain art,
Freely let me take of Thee;
Spring Thou up within my heart,
Rife to all eternity.

LVI. Wrestling Jacob. 78.

1.

NAY, I cannot let Thee go,

Till a bleffing Thou bestow;

Do not turn away Thy face,
Mine's an urgent, preffing cafe.

II.

Doft Thou ask me, who I am?
Ah, my Lord, Thou know'ft my name!
Yet the queftion gives a plea,

To fupport my fuit with Thee.

III.

Thou didst once a wretch behold,
In rebellion blindly bold;
Scorn thy grace, thy pow'r defy,
That poor rebel, Lord, was I.

IV.

Once a finner near despair,
Sought thy mercy-feat by pray'r;
Mercy heard and fet him free,
Lord, that mercy came to me.

V.

Many years have pafs'd fince then,
Many changes I have feen;

Yet have been upheld till now;

Who could hold me up but Thou?

VI.

Thou haft help'd in every need,
This emboldens me to plead;
After fo much mercy paft,

Canft Thou let me fink at laft?

VII.

No-I must maintain my hold,
'Tis thy goodness makes me bold;
I can no denial take,

When I plead for Jefu's fake.

LVII. The broken Heart. S. M,

D

I.

ESCEND my gracious God,
And to me now impart

That precious bleffing, bought with blood,
A new, and broken heart.

II.

From Thee I wander, Lord, Which causes me much fmart; Reclaim me by thy pow'rful word, And give a broken heart.

III.

To mourn my follies done,

And better act my part;
Bestow upon me, through thy Son,
A new, a broken heart.

IV.

O keep me near thy fide,
(I'm prone from Thee to ftart,)
And let thy Spirit, Lord, abide
Within my broken heart.

V.

O come unto my foul,

And never more depart:

Lord, condefcend to make me whole,
And heal my broken heart.

LVIII. The Influences of the Spirit defired.

L. M.

P to Thy feat, eternal God,

UP

Now would mine ardent paffions foar; Fain would I view thy bright abode,

And love, and wonder, and adore.

II.

Spirit of peace, immortal dove,

Here let thy gentle influence reign; Come fill my foul with heav'nly love, And all the graces of thy train.
