II.

Thou my one thing needful be,
Let me ever cleave to Thee;
Let me chufe the better part,
Let me give Thee all my heart.

III.

Fairer than the fons of men,
Do not let me turn again,
Leave the fountain head of blifs,
Stoop to creature happiness!

IV.

Whom have Í on earth below?
Only Thee I'd wish to know:

Whom have I, in heav'n, but Thee?
Thou art all in all to me.

V.

All my treasure is above,

All my riches is thy love:

Who the worth of love can tell?

Infinite! unfearchable!

VI.

Nothing else may I require;

Let me Thee alone defire:

Pleas'd with what thy love provides; Wean'd from all the world befides.

LXVII. Submiffion. C. M.

I.

LORD, my beft defire fulfil,
And help me to refign

Life, health, and comfort to thy will,
And make thy pleasure mine.

II.

Why fhould I fhrink at thy command,
Whofe love forbids my fears?
Or tremble at the gracious hand
That wipes away my tears?

[ocr errors]

No, let me rather freely yield
What most I prize to Thee;
Who never haft a good with-held,
Or wilt with-hold from me.

IV.

Thy favour, all my journey through,
Thou art engag'd to grant;
What else I want, or think I do,
'Tis better fill to want.

V.

Wisdom and mercy guide my way,

Shall I refift them both?

A poor blind creature of a day,

And crufh'd before the moth.

VI.

But ah! my inward fpirit cries,
Still bind me to thy fway;

Elfe the next cloud that veils my skies,
Drives all these thoughts away.

LXVIII. Praying in Faith. 75.

1.

OME, my foul, thy fuit prepare,
Jefus loves to answer pray'r;

COM

He himself has bid thee pray,
Therefore will not fay thee nay.

II.

Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitions with thee bring;
For his grace and power are fuch,
None can ever afk too much.

III.

With my burden I begin;
Lord, remove this load of fin,
Let thy blood, for finners spilt,
my confcience free from guilt.

Set

IV.

Lord, I come to Thee for reft,
Take poffeffion of my breaft;

There thy blood-bought right maintain, And without a rival reign.

V.

While I am a pilgrim here,
Let thy love my fpirit cheer;

As my Guide, iny Guard, my Friend,
Lead me to my journey's end.

VI.

Shew me what I have to do,
Ev'ry hour my strength renew;
Let me live a life of faith,
Let me die thy people's death.

LXIX. Come Lord Jefus. P. M.

COM

I.

OME, Thou long expected Jefus, Born to fet thy people free; From our fears and fins releafe us, Let us find our reft in Thee! Ifrael's ftrength and confolation, Hope of all the earth Thou art; Dear defire of ev'ry nation, Joy of ev'ry longing heart.

II.

Born thy people to deliver,

Born a Child, and yet a King,
Born to reign in us for ever,

Now thy gracious kingdom bring.
By thine own eternal Spirit,
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By thine all-fufficient merit

Raife us to thy glorious throne!

LXX. Mercy. 11s.

I.

HY mercy, my God, is the theme of my fong,

THY

The joy of my heart, and the boast of my tongue;

Thy free grace alone, from the first to the last, Has won my affections, and bound my foul faft.

II.

Without thy fweet mercy, I could not live here;

Sin foon would reduce me to utter despair;
