PREFACE. IN announcing this Volume as the Donnellan Lecture for 1862, the reader should be apprised that, the course being limited to six Lectures, there have been three additional supplied (which accordingly are marked 'Supplemental') in order to comprise-not indeed all the allusions to the Messiah and His times, but-all the Messianic Prophecies' of Isaiah distinctively so called: some not in this number having been noticed in their connection with them. Thus the notable prophecy Chapter vii. 14, has not been treated separately, but will be found considered in its connection with that of chapter ix. 6, 7. That in chapter xlii. 1, is noticed in connection with chapter liii. And that in chapter lxiii. 1-6 in connection with chapter lxi. 1-3, &c.
