THERE are two reasons which have influenced me to request your Lordship’s permission to preface this volume with a Dedication to you. First, because I have the satisfaction of serving a chapel within your Lordship’s jurisdiction ; and, secondly, because I trust there is nothing in the doctrines endeavoured to be enforced in the following Discourses, at variance with the views of scriptural truth, which a bishop of our church may be expected to entertain.
