Mr. Thornton, a gentleman who refided many years in Turkey, is preparing for publication an Account of the Government, Religion, Manners, military, and civil Eftablifhments of Turkey, which will be published about Christmas.

Two Volumes of Mr. Beloe's Anecdotes of Literature, and fcarce Books, will be published in November.

A fecond Volume of 'Manning's Surrey is in the Prefs.

A fplendid Edition of Nichols's Anecdotes of Hogarth, is preparing in two Volumes Quarto. It will comprehend the Notes of Meflrs. Steevens and Nichols.

WE E are informed, by an advertisement prefixed to this pofthumous work, by its anonymous Editor, that "The Lectures which are now offered to the public were read, during twenty-five feffions, in the University of St. Andrew's, and were intended by the author for publication. But a fudden illnefs, which two years ago put a period to his life, prevented him from fuperintending their progrefs through the prefs." This talk, therefore, has devolved upon the prefent editor, who, though he does not give his name to the world, profeffes to have "endeavoured, to the utmost of his power, to fulfil his duty, both towards the author and the public."

The Lectures themfelves are divided into two principal parts, the first of which treats of Belles Lettres, the fecond
