The Trustees have been induced to publish this work by the urgent call of our denomination for a collection of Hymns peculiarly adapted to Conference and Prayer Meetings. How far they have succeeded in meeting the necessity for a collection of Hymns of this kind, must be determined by that public to which this selection is now submitted. Should this work prove a means of facilitating the offerings of praise and devotion, and in cherishing and elevating the piety of Christians, and of conveying truth to the hearts and understandings of the unconverted—of adding to the declarative glory of God, then will the ob jects and desires of the publishers be accomplished.
