ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu our Lord. For Christ's Holy Catholic Church, for the Queen and all in authority, for all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, for those who are over us in the Lord, for ourselves, for all children, [especially those of this family,] for all absent friends*, for the poor and the afflicted*, for who ask or specially need the prayers of the our enemies, for those that are in family." *Here mention any error, and for all sorts and conditions of men. Lord, shew thy mercy upon us. And grant us thy salvation. O Lord, save the Queen. And mercifully hear us when we call upon thee. O Lord, save thy people. And bless thine inheritance. Then the Collect for the Day, and afterwards the Collects following. It would be well to omit the second of these Collects during Lent, or on those days on which some other special subject is remembered. LORD, raise up (we pray thee) thy power, and come among us; and with great might succour us; that whereas, through our sins and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through the satisfaction of thy Son our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be honour and glory, world without end. Amen. For the Renewal of the Spirit. ALMIGHTY God, who hast given us thy only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and to be born of a pure Virgin; Grant that we being regenerate, and made thy children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by thy Holy Spirit; through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Spirit, ever one God, world without end. PREVENT us, O Lord, in all our doings with thy most gracious favour, and further us with thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued and ended in thee, we may glorify thy holy Name, and finally by thy mercy obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
