Hat was the time of this Ignorance ?
Heathenish Idolatry.

II. How did GOD wink at this time, adóv. 1. Not as if He wink'd at their Sins or pardon'd them, Rom. ii. 12.

2. But GOD did not fo refpe&t thofe times, as to fend His Son then, or He pass'd them over, as the Syriack tranflates it. He permitted them to be times of Ignorance.

III. Why is it faid, that He now commandeth all Men every where to repent, did He not do it before? Yes, but

OBSERVATION.

By the Coming of Chrift, all Mankind is in a pes culiar Manner commanded and oblig'd to repent. 1. We are enjoin'd by the Gospel to repent, S. Mark i. 15. S. Luk. xiii. 3.

2. What is Evangelical Repentance; it confifts in,

3. What are those particular Obligations which we have upon us now to repent.

1. GOD hath now fhewn His greatest Severity against Sin.

2. Upon our Repentance, we are in a Capacity of Salvation, A&t. ii. 37.

3. The Gospel hath more clearly discover'd to us eternal Happiness and Mifery: Happiness if we do; but Mifery if we do not repent, 2 Tim. i. 10.

USE.

Repent. Consider,

1. What a glorious GOD you have offended, Job xlii. 5,6.

2. What Obligations lie upon you to repent, Ifa. v. 4. Rom. ii. 4.

3. What dreadful Punishments you have deferv'd.

4. What fpecial Notice GOD takes, whether you repent or no, Jer. viii. 6.

5. No Sin but is damnable without Repentance, no Sin but is pardonable with it.
