A day in thy courts. Ps. lxxxiv. 10.
Welcome, sweet day of rest,
Welcome to this reviving breast,
The King himself comes near,
And we by faith may see him here,
One day within the place,
Where thou my God art seen,
Is better than ten thousand days
My willing soul would stay
And wait to hail the brighter day
Eye hath not seen nor ear heard. 1 Cor. ii. 9.
What sinners value I resign;
This life's a dream, an empty show,
0 glorious hour! O bless'd abode!
1 shall be near, and like my God;
My flesh shall slumber in the ground,
Was in all points tempted like as we are. Heb. iv. 15.
When gath'ring clouds around I view,
If aught should tempt my soul to stray,
And oh! when I have safely pass'd
Them also which sleep in Jesus. 1 Thes. iv. 14.
When the soft dews of kindly sleep
Sun of my soul! thou Saviour dear!
Abide with me from morn till eve,
Come near, and bless us when we wake,
There are three that bear record in heaven. 1 John. v. 7.
We give immortal praise
To God the Father's love,
And better hopes above;
To God the Son, belongs
From everlasting woe;
To God the Holy Ghost
Immortal praise we give;
Makes the dead soul revive;
Almighty God! we bow
Before thy glorious throne;
The undivided Three,
And the mysterious One!
Thee we adore, eternal Lord,
And rest our faith upon thy word.
