HYMN LXXXIX. A day in thy courts. Ps. lxxxiv. 10. WELCOME, Sweet day of rest, That saw the Lord arise ; Welcome to this reviving breast, And these rejoicing eyes. The King himself comes near, One day within the place, Where thou my God art seen, Is better than ten thousand days Spent in the paths of sin. My willing soul would stay In such a frame as this; And wait to hail the brighter day HYMN XC. Eye hath not seen nor ear heard. 1 Cor. ii. 9. WHAT sinners value I resign; Lord! 'tis enough if thou art mine; This life's a dream, an empty show, But the bright world to which I go, Hath joys substantial and sincere; When shall I wake and find me there? O glorious hour! O bless'd abode ! And flesh and sin no more controul My flesh shall slumber in the ground, K HYMN XCI. Was in all points tempted like as we are. Heb. iv. 15. WHEN gath'ring clouds around I view, If aught should tempt my soul to stray, And oh! when I have safely pass'd HYMN XCII. Them also which sleep in Jesus. 1 Thes. iv. 14. WHEN the soft dews of kindly sleep Be my last thought how sweet to rest, Sun of my soul! thou Saviour dear! Abide with me from morn till eve, Come near, and bless us when we wake, Ere through the world our way we take, Keep us, oh! keep us in thy love, And fit us for thy realms above. HYMN XCIII. There are three that bear record in heaven. 1 John. v. 7. WE give immortal praise To God the Father's love, And better hopes above; He sent his own eternal Son To die for sins which we have done. To God the Son, belongs Who bought us with his blood From everlasting woe; And now he lives, and now he reigns, To God the Holy Ghost Immortal praise we give; Whose new creating pow'r Makes the dead soul revive; His work completes the great design, Almighty God! we bow Before thy glorious throne; The undivided Three, And the mysterious One! Thee we adore, eternal Lord, And rest our faith upon thy word. |
