third Day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his Sight. Which undoubtedly alludes to the two Millinaries of Years, during whichTime the Kingdom of the Meffiah is to be in its depreffed State, whereas in the third it fhall be raised into a State of Glory. And therefore the Probability is that the grand Jubilee of the feventh Millinary will be honoured by the Appearance of the Meffiah in a State of Triumph and Glory; when the Kingdom and Dominion, and the Greatness of the Kingdom under the whole Heaven, shall be given to the People of the Saints of the most High, whofe Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and all Dominicns fhall ferve and obey him. Which, fays the Prophet Daniel, is the End of the Matter.

As to the Unity of the Godhead which

you fo much infifted on, you may be affured that the true chriftian Doctrine afferts that Pofition as strongly as the Jews can poffibly do. I do indeed acknowledge that fome Disputes, which arofe among Christian Divines in the fourth Century, and which are not yet quite abolished, gave too much Caufe for the Enemies of Christianity to triumph; but as it would be hard upon you to be obliged to vindicate all the idle DeciF fions

fions of your Schools; fo neither shall I at tempt to vindicate all the filly Determinations of our Councils.

You know, as well as I, that the Word Elohim, God, is in the Hebrew Bible applied to Men and Angels, as well as to the fupreme God, without impeaching the Unity or Supremacy of the one God. And that not only the Appellation of the Son of God, but alfo of God, is applied to the Messiah, in particular in the Scriptures of the Old Teftament, as for Example, when God, speaking of the Meffiah, fays to David, * I will be his Father, and he shall be my Son.Wherefore the holy David when speaking in the Spirit, concerning this Promife, faith, † I will declare the Decree Jehovah hath faid unto me, Thou art my Son, this Day have I begotten thee. Nor is he only spoken of under the Character of the Son of God, but also as God. For thus the holy David, when speaking of the Meffiab, faith, || Thy Throne, O God, is for ever and ever; the Sceptre of thy Kingdom is a right Sceptre: Thou loveft Righteousness and hatest Wickedness; therefore, O God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the Oil of Gladness above thy Fellows. And the Prophet

Prophet Isaiah, when speaking of the fame. Person, faith, *Behold your God will come with Vengeance, i. e. to fubdue + his Enemies, even God with a Recompence, i.e. for the || Remiffion of our Sins, He will come and fave you. Then the Eyes of the Blind Shall be opened, and the Ears of the Deaf fhall be unstopped, &c. Which Texts with many others, to the fame Purposes, are univerfally applied to the Meffiah, by all Divines both Jewish and Christian.

And if you will allow us the fame Latitude of Interpreting our Scriptures, as you take in the Interpretation of yours, you will find the Unity and Supremacy of the one only God as ftrongly afferted therein, as in your Scriptures. As a Proof of which I shall beg leave to produce one Text out of many, which is to be found in the Writings of Paul of Tarfus, who was one of the Apoftles of Jefus, whom we suppose to be the Chrift or the Meffiab. And that is in his Epiftle to the Corinthians, where he says, ** For tho' there be that are called Gods, whether in Heaven or in Earth, (as there be Gods many, and Lords many) yet to us there is but one God,
