Their Seed is fprinkled with his Blood,
Their Children fet apart for Ged;
His Spirit on their Offspring fhed,
Like Water pour'd upon the Head.

Let ev'ry Saint with chearful Voice
In this large Covenant rejoice;
Young Children, in their early Days,
Shall give the God of Abrah'm Praife.

HYMN CXX.

The Offices of CHRIST.

E bless the Prophet of the Lord,
That comes with Truth and Grace;

Jefus, thy Spirit and thy Word,
Shall lead us in thy Ways.

We rev'rence our High Prieft above,
Who offer'd up his Blood,

And lives to carry on his Love,

By pleading with our God.

We honour our exalted King;

How sweet are his Commands !
He guards our Souls from Hell and Sin,
By his Almighty Hands.

Hofanna to his glorious Name,

Who faves by diff'rent Ways His Mercies lay a fov'reign Claim To our immortal Praife.

Faith

N

HYMN CXXI.

Faith in CHRIST our Sacrifice.

WOT all the Blood of Beasts

On Jewish Altars flain,

Could give the guilty Confcience Peace,
Or wash away the Stain..

But Chrift, the heav'nly Lamb,
Takes all Sins
our

away;
A Sacrifice of nobler Name,
And richer Blood than they.

My Faith would lay her Hand On that dear Head of thine, While like a Penitent I ftand, And there confefs my Sin.

My Soul looks back to fee
The Burdens thou didst bear,
When hanging on the curfed Tree,
And hopes her Guilt was there.

Believing, we rejoice

To fee the Curse remove;

We blefs the Lamb with chearful Voice,

And fing his bleeding Love.

GOD reconciled in CHRIST.

EAREST of all the Names above,
Our Jefus and our God,

Who can refift thy heav'nly Love,
Or trifle with thy Blood?

'Tis by the Merits of thy Death,
The Father fimiles again;
'Tis by thine interceding Breath
The Spirit dwells with Men.

"Till God in human Flesh I fee,
My Thoughts no Comfort find;
The holy, juft, and facred three
Are Terrors to my Mind.

But if Emmanuel's Face appear,
My Hope, my Joy begins;
His Name forbids my flavifh Fear,
His Grace removes my Sins.

While Jews on their own Law rely,
And Greeks of Wisdom boaft,
I love th' incarnate Mystery,
And there I fix my Truft.

For New Year's Day.

HE Lord of Earth and Sky,
The God of Ages praise,
Who reigns enthron'd on high,
Ancient of endless Days ;

Who lengthens out our Trial here,
And fpares us yet another Year.

Barren and wither'd Trees,

We cumber'd long the Ground,
No Fruit of Holiness

On our dead Souls was found;
Yet doth he us in Mercy fpare,
Another, and another Year.

When Juftice bar'd the Sword
To cut the Fig-Tree down,
The Pity of our Lord

Cry'd, Let it ftill alone.

The Father mild inclines his Ear,
And fpares us yet another Year.

Jefus, thy fpeaking Blood

From God obtain'd the Grace,
Who therefore hath bestow'd
On us a longer Space :

Thou didst in our Behalf appear,

And lo, we fee another Year!

Then dig about our Root,
Break up our fallow Ground,
And let our gracious Fruit
To thy great Praise abound:

O let

O let us all thy Praife declare,
And Fruit unto Perfection bear.

HYMN CXXIV.

Adult-Baptifm.

ESCEND, celeftial Dove!
In ev'ry Bofom dwell;

Upon the prefent Water move,
While we the Influence feel.

Anoint with holy Fire,
Baptize with purging Flames
This Soul, and with thy. Grace infpire,
In ceafelefs living Streams.

Thy heav'nly Unction give,
Thy Promife, Lord, fulfil,
Give Pow'r thy Spirit to receive,
And Strength to do thy Will.

Thy Ord'nance we obey,
O meet us in the fame;

And with this Water now convey
The Virtues of thy Name.

Witness to this thy Sign,
And grant the inward Grace;
Let this thy Servant feal'd for thine,
From hence depart in Peace.
