Out To O Mel Tale
[Alternative Tune No. 268.] W ELCOME to us is Christmas morn, Our Easter Day is glad and bright, For then our Saviour mild
And Alleluias ring In Bethlehem Town for us was born,
From all the Church to welcome back A dear and Holy Child.
Her risen LORD and King. But with our Christmas carols glad
Yet not at blessed Eastertide Are blent some notes of woe,
The triumph is complete, To think what anguish for our sakes
Our Saviour lingers yet on earth, That Heavenly Babe must know.
Far from His Father's seat. And good to us that blessed Day
But blest Ascension Day to us On which our Saviour died,
Brings happiness alone, And shed the water and the blood
We joy with our triumphant LORD, From out His precious Side.
Ascending to His Throne ; We thank the LORD Who saved us then, And Angels welcome Him on high But glad we dare not be
With glad and solemn lay ; For thinking of the crown of thorns,
Then let us echo back their songs, And of the blood-stained Tree.
This bright Ascension Day. Amen.
