[Alternative Tune No. 253.] JESUS! we adore Thee,
Once a sinless Victim, J Veiled 'neath bread and wine,
Thou for sin didst bleed, Though not yet Thy glory
Now, our Priest for ever, On our sight may shine :
Thou wilt intercede. What Thy word commanded,
Saints their Crowns of Glory Duly is fulfilled,
Cast before Thy feet, Thou Thyself art present,
Throngs of holy Angels As Thyself hast willed.
Offer incense sweet ; As in Bethlehem's manger,
Yet our feeble praises As on Calvary's hill,
Thou wilt not despise, Faithful hearts adored Thee,
Heavenward they are rising, We adore Thee still :
With Thy Sacrifice. When the bread is broken,
Friend of little children, And the wine outpoured,
Hear Thy children's prayer, We, with the Apostles,
Take 'Thy lambs, Good Shepherd, Cry—“It is the Lord.”
To Thy tender care : Lamb of GOD! who takest
Guide us, guard us, feed us, All our sins away,
While on earth we live, Cleanse our hearts and fill us
And our souls in dying With Thy love, we pray :
To Thine arms receive. Amen.
DEHOLD the Lamb of GOD!
Behold the Lamb of God! D O come ye Angels all,
O Thou for sinners slain,
Let it not be in vain
That Thou hast bled ;
But plead the Sacrifice Divine, Unveiled, enthroned in Heaven above, That makes the Father's Face to shine Let all adore !
On quick and dead. Behold the Lamb of GOD!
Behold the Lamb of God! Drop down, ye glorious skies,
Saints wrapped in blissful rest,
Souls waiting to be blest
Join in the song,
Which we in CHRIST's dear Church below, And to His Church Himself He gives, Even through trouble, toil, or woe, Incarnate Host !
Love to prolong. Behold the Lamb of GOD!
Behold the Lamb of God! All hail, Eternal Word,
Worthy is He alone
To sit upon the Throne
Of God above!
One with the Ancient of all days,
One with the Paraclete in praise,
All Light-all Love. Amen.
