Epiphany. 1. TAIL! the day, when in the sky Onward moving, that bright flame May it light us on the road, Glory, honour, praise and love, Amen. C 2. BRIGHTEST and best of the sons of the Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid; Star of the East, the horizon adorning, Guide where our Infant Redeemer is laid. Cold on His cradle the dewdrops are shining; Low lies His Head with the beast of the stall; Angels adore Him in slumber reclining, Maker, and Monarch, and Saviour of all. O let us bring Him our lowly oblation, All that most dearly we cherish and prize! While in His temple our hearts' adoration Daily before Him like incense shall rise. Brightest and best of the sons of the morning, Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid; Star of the East, the horizon adorning, Guide where our Infant Redeemer is laid! Amen. JESUS 3. ESUS shall reign where'er the sun Doth his successive journeys run; His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise to set no more. To Him shall fervent prayer be made, People and realms of every tongue Blessings abound where'er He reigns; With joy the captive bursts his chains, The weary find eternal rest, And all the sons of want are blest. Be everlasting glory Thine, O Word made Flesh, O Word Divine ! Amen. 4. LIGHT of those whose dreary dwelling Borders on the shades of death; Still we wait for Thine appearing, Shew Thy power in every nation, By Thine all-sufficient Merit, Honour, glory, might, dominion, Amen. 5. ALLELUIAH! best and sweetest HAUT the hymns of praise above: Halleluiah! thou repeatest, Halleluiah! Church victorious, Halleluiah! songs of gladness Halleluiah! adoration, Holy GoD, we raise to Thee; Visit us with Thy salvation, Bring us all Thy joys to see. Halleluiah! Amen. |
