3 Let not the world's deceitful cares
The rising plant destroy;
But let it yield an hundred-fold,
The fruits of peace and joy.

4 Nor let thy word, so kindly sent,
To raise us to thy throne,
Return to thee, and sadly tell
That we reject thy Son.

5 Oft as the precious seed is sown,
Thy quick'ning grace bestow;
That all whose minds the truth receive
Its saving power may know.

Psalm xvi, 10-11. (c. M)

1 AGAIN the Lord of life and light
Awakes the kindling ray ;
Unseals the eyelids of the morn,
And pours increasing day.

2 O what a night was that which wrapt The heathen world in gloom;

O what a sun which broke this day
Triumphant from the tomb.

3 The pow'rs of darkness leagu'd in vain To bind our Lord in death;

He shook their kingdom when he fell,
By his expiring breath.

4 This day be grateful homage paid,
And loud hosannas sung,

Let gladness dwell in ev'ry heart,
And praise on ev'ry tongue.

5 Ten thousand, thousand tongues shall join
To hail the happy morn;
Which scatters blessings from its wings,
On nations yet unborn.

Isaiah liv, 13. (L. M.)

1 LOOK down, O Lord! and on our youth Bestow thy gifts of heav'nly grace;

And let the seed of sacred truth
Find in each mind a fruitful place.

2 Lord! teach them to remember thee,
Their great Creator, from their youth;
Advancing to maturity,

In years, in knowledge, grace, and truth.

3 Now in the strength of pow'r divine, Oh may they all with glad accord, In holy covenant combine,

And join themselves to Christ, the Lord.

4 Thy sons and daughters may they be, Confirm'd and strengthen'd by thy grace; And, safe through life preserv'd by thee, In heav'n behold thee face to face.

2 Corinthians, xiii, 14. (P. M.)

* 1 MAY the grace of Christ, our Saviour, And the Father's boundless love, With the Holy Spirit's favour,

Rest upon us from above.

2 Thus may we abide in union
With each other and the Lord,
And possess, in sweet communion,
Joys this earth cannot afford.

Psalm lxxxvi, 17. (P. M.)

1 OF thy love some gracious token,
Grant us, Lord, before we go;
Bless the word which has been spoken;
Life and peace on all bestow.

When we join the world again,
Let our hearts with thee remain;

Oh direct us,

And protect us,

Till we gain the heav'nly shore,
Where thy people want no more.

Revelations i, 5—6. (L. M.)

1 BLEST Lamb of God, with grateful praise,
Our voices high to thee we raise;
With thee to reign, redeem'd by blood,
We kings and priests are made to God.

2 Strike, strike your harps, ye ransom'd, sing Loud hallelujahs to our King;

Let ev'ry nation, tongue, and tribe,
Strength, glory, might, to him ascribe.

EVENING HYMN.

1 GLORY to thee, my God, this night,
For all the blessings of the light;
Keep me, oh keep me, King of kings,
Under thine own Almighty wings.

2 Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear Son,
The ills that I this day have done;
That with the world, myself, and thee,
I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.

3 Teach me to live, that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed;
Teach me to die, that so I may
With joy behold the judgment day.

4 O may my soul on thee repose,

And with sweet sleep mine eyelids close;
Sleep, that may me more active make,
To serve my God when I awake.

5 Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

DOXOLOGIES.

(S. M.)

GIVE to the Father praise,
Give glory to the Son,
And to the Spirit of his grace,
Be equal honour done.

(C.M.)

TO Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

The God whom we adore,

Be glory as it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

(L. M.)

PRAISE God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

(7's.)

SING we to our God above,
Praise eternal as his love;
Praise him all ye heav'nly host,
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
