28. And there ye shall ferve gods, the work of mens hands, wood and Stone, which neither see, nor bear, nor eat, nor smell. 28. But if from thence thou shalt Seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou feek him with, all thy heart and with all thy foul. 30. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and fhalt be obedient unto his Voice: 31. Or hath God affayed to go and take him a nation from the midft of another nation, by tempta tions, by figns, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a ftretched-out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? Miracles which God were Tryals both to wrought in Egypt, the Egyptians and the Ifraelites, whether they would obey God and truft in hin or not. 25. Unto 35. Unto thee it was fhewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else befides bim. 36. Out of heaven be made thee to hear his voice, that be might inftruct thee and upon earth he fhewed thee bis great fire, and thou heardeft his words out of the midft of the fire. 37. And because he loved thy fathers, therefore be chofe their feed after them, and brought thee out in his fight with his mighty power out of Egypt: 38. To drive out nations from before thee, greater and mightier then thou art, to bring thee in to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day. 39. Know therefore this day, and confider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath there is none else. : 40. Thou shalt keep therefore his ftatutes, and bis commandments which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayeft prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. 41. A ND Mofes called all If rael, and said unto them, Hear, O Ifrael, the ftatutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep and do them. ders or Heads of their I. For M(es must be fuppofed to have fpoken to the whole Congregation of all Ifrael after the fame manner, in which they are faid to fpeak to him; viz. By the Heads of their Tribes, and by their Elders, as is expreffed in v. 23. of this Chapter; where he fays, Tecame near unto me, (not that all the Men of Ifrael did fo, for it follows by way of Explication) even all the Heads of your Tribes, and your Elders. Keep and do them; Heb. Keep to do them. This is the great End of their hearing and learning them. 2. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb, 3. The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. 2. The LORD, &c. Exod. 19.5. 3. With our fathers: viz. With d braham, Ifaac and Jacob. It is not faid that God did not en ter into Covenant with them, but that he made not this Covenant with them; viz. this at Horeb. Here God did more largely reveal his Will, and thereupon folemnly entred into Covenant with the People, and their Pofterity, as appears from the following words, 4.
