GOD is our hope and strength, a very present help in trouble; therefore will we not fear though the earth be moved, and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea. God hath showed his voice, and the earth shall melt away. The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge.

O Lord, save the Queen, and mercifully hear us when we call upon thee.

Endue thy ministers with righteousness, and make thy chosen people joyful.

O Lord, save thy people, and bless thine inheritance give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fighteth for us but only thou, O God.

O God, make clean our hearts within us, and take not thy Holy Spirit from us.

Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep us this day without sin.

O Lord, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us.

O Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us, as our trust is in thee.

COLLECT.

O Almighty and most merciful God, of thy bountiful goodness keep us, we beseech thee, from all things that may hurt us; that we being ready both in body and soul, may cheerfully accomplish those things that thou wouldest have done, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c.

TUESDAY EVENING.

In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider.

Through much tribulation you must enter the kingdom of God.

Stand in awe, and sin not; commune with your own heart and in your chamber, and be still.

Surely it is meet to be said unto God, That which I see not, teach Thou me; if I have done iniquity, I will do so no

more.

The servant is not greater than his master: if they have persecuted me they will persecute you also.

If a man live many years, and rejoice in them all, yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting; for that is the end of all men, and the living will lay it to his heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter, for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

PRAYER FOR PARDON.

O Lord, who for our sins art justly displeased, have compassion on our infirmities, and turn again unto us after the time that we have suffered adversity and misery. We rend our hearts and not our garments, and turn unto thee, O Lord, heavenly Father, most merciful God, and we humbly pray thee to pardon all our sad transgressions, that we may be cleansed and reconciled to thee by the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

In all our sorrows and afflictions it is good for us to draw nigh unto thee, O Lord God of heaven and earth, and to dwell on thy mercy and loving-kindness; for all that we have is thine, and thou art our only shield and protection.

To thee alone be praise and thanksgiving, three Persons and one God, the Holy one whose name is from everlasting. Be ever merciful unto us, O Lord, in all time of our tribulation, in all time of our wealth.

In the hour of death and in the day of judgment, suffer us not to fail of that eternal deliverance and salvation which the precious blood of our Saviour hath purchased for all believers.

Thy right hand, O Lord, bringeth mighty things to pass, and can turn the shadow of death into the morning of comfort and consolation.

May we seek and ever hold fast the safe protection of thy Almighty arm, through Jesus our blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

COLLECT.

O Almighty God, who art a most strong tower to all them that put their trust in thee; to whom all things in heaven and earth and under the earth do bow and obey, be now and evermore our defence, and make us to know and feel that there is none other name given to man, in whom and through whom we may receive health and salvation, but only the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

CHRISTMAS DAY.

COMFORT ye my people, saith your God, speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and say unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned.

Behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people; for unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd, and he shall gather the lambs with his arm. Unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be on his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Come unto him all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and he will give you rest. Take his yoke upon you, and learn of him, for he is meek and lowly of heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls. For his yoke is easy, and his burden is light.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodI will toward men. Blessing and glory, and wisdom and thanksgiving, and honour and power and might, be unto God for ever and ever. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

COLLECT.

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the quick and dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, now and ever. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

COLLECT.

Almighty God, who hast given us thy only begotten son, to take our nature upon him, and as at this time to be born of a pure Virgin ; grant that we being regenerate, and made thy children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by thy Holy Spirit, through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

PRAYER OF GRATITUDE FOR THE ADVENT OF OUR

BLESSED LORD.

Grant unto us, O God of patience and consolation, to be deeply impressed with gratitude for the advent of thy blessed Son in the flesh, who took our nature upon him, to suffer for our sins; that with one mind and one heart we may glorify thee, O God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who spared not thine only Son, but freely gave him as an offering for all, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life, who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost. For this is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners: may we therefore henceforth live unto him, and look unto him for all strength and comfort and guidance, that when this our short life is ended, we may be received by him into the everlasting habitations of the just, and dwell for ever with the Lord. Amen.
