PRAYER FOR HELP AND PROTECTION.

O Almighty God, by whose providence we have been preserved, and sustained from the time we were born until this present day, continue to manifest towards us thy Fatherly care, in all the changes and chances of this mortal life. In the day of prosperity, and in the day of adversity be thou with us, O Lord, and grant that we may have thee always for our help and guide; that it may please thee to look upon us with the eyes of thy mercy, to give us sure confidence in thee, and in all dangers and necessities, to stretch forth the right hand of thy majesty, to save and defend us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT.

Grant, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that like as we do believe thine only begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into the heavens, so we may also in heart and mind thither ascend, and with him continually dwell, who liveth and reigneth with thee, and the Holy Ghost, one God world without end. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c.

FRIDAY EVENING.

BLESSED is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments.

His seed shall be mighty upon earth; the generation of the faithful shall be blessed.

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness; he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man sheweth favor and lendeth, he will guide his affairs with discretion. He shall not be afraid for evil tidings, his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

He hath dispersed abroad, he hath given to the poor, his righteousness endureth for ever.

For the Lord his God will stand by him, and help him, and direct him in all his ways.

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace.

PRAYER FOR SANCTIFICATION.

O Almighty Lord, and everlasting God, vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to direct, sanctify and govern both our hearts and bodies, in the ways of thy laws, and in the works of thy commandments, that through thy most mighty protection both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

COLLECT FOR THE INFLUENCE OF THE SPIRIT.

O Lord our God, who didst teach the hearts of thy faithful people, by the sending to them the light of thy Holy Spirit; grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN GRACES.

O thou, in whose hands are the wills and affections of men; kindle in us, we pray thee, all holy desires, repress all corrupt imaginations, dispose us to love thy commandments, and most earnestly to desire thy heavenly promises, striving always to become fit for the kingdom of heaven by faith in Jesus Christ.

Strengthen and stablish us in every good work, that amidst all the hopes and fears, the joys and sorrows, and the manifold temptations of this mortal life, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SATURDAY MORNING.

LET us look unto the Lord, let us wait for the God of our salvation; our God will hear us. The Lord shall be a light unto us. He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

The Lord giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

It is God that leadeth unto wisdom, and directeth the wise; for in his hands are both we and our words.

Whoso is wise, shall understand these things; prudent, and he shall know them: for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

PRAYER FOR PARDON.

Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desireth not the death of a sinner, but rather that he should turn from his wickedness and live, we beseech thee to grant us true repentance, and thy Holy Spirit; that those things may please thee that we do at this present, and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy, so that at the last we may come to thine eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

COLLECT.

Almighty God, who showest to them that be in error the light of thy truth, to the intent that they may return into the way of righteousness; grant unto all them that are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's religion, that they may avoid those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER AGAINST SIN AND DANGER.

O Lord our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; defend us in the same by thy mighty power, and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger, but that all our doings may be ordered by thy governance, to do always that which is righteous in thy sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
