PRAYER FOR ALL CHRISTIAN VIRTUES.

Unto thee, O God, do we humbly render thanks and praise for thy innumerable mercies. It is of thy goodness that we yet live to raise up our hands and hearts unto thee. May it please thee never to leave us nor forsake us, but to endue us every day more and more with the gifts and graces of thy heavenly Spirit. That whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, we may think on these things, and do them, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER FOR PEACE.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our only help in all time of need, in all our trials and sufferings in this life, grant us that peace which the world cannot give let not our hearts be troubled, neither let us be afraid; and though in the world, we may have tribulation, yet may we be of good cheer, knowing that thou hast overcome the world, and that thou art gone up on high to prepare a place for us, and wilt come again and receive us unto thyself, that where thou art, there we may be also. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

7

MONDAY EVENING.

THE Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked.

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger?

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.

He will turn again, he will have compassion, he will subdue our iniquities, and cast our sins into the depths of the

sea.

Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself, and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread, and he shall be for a sanctuary.

Magnify him day by day, and worship his Name for ever and ever.

Whether ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God, and walk as seeing him that is invisible. And he shall be the strength of your hearts, the guide of your feet, and your portion for ever. Glory be to the Father, &c.

PRAYER FOR PARDON.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us thy unworthy and unprofitable servants: according to the multitude of thy mercies do away all our offences, and graciously pardon whatsoever we have done amiss this day in thought, word, or deed, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

COLLECT.

We beseech thee, Almighty God, mercifully to look upon thy people, that by thy great goodness they may be governed and preserved evermore both in body and soul, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING.

We will not give sleep to our eyes nor slumber to our eyelids until we have made mention of thy loving-kindness, O Lord, according to all that thou hast bestowed upon us; thou hast granted us life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved our spirits. Let us then return unto our rest, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with us; and should our soul be this night required of us, into thy hands, O Lord, we commit our spirit, for thou hast redeemed us, O Lord God of truth. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c,

TUESDAY MORNING.

O LORD, thou art our God, we will exalt thee; we will praise thy name, for thou hast done wonderful things: thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

O Lord God of hosts, who is like unto thee? Thy truth, most mighty Lord, is on every side.

Thou art great, and doest wondrous things; thou art God alone. The merciful and gracious Lord hath so done his wondrous works, that they ought to be had in remembrance. O taste, and see how gracious the Lord is; blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

The Lord delivereth the souls of his servants; and all they that put their trust in him shall not be destitute. Glory be to the Father, &c.

PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE FROM SIN.

O Lord, we beseech thee favourably to hear the prayers of thy people, that we, who are justly punished for our offences, may be mercifully delivered by thy goodness, for the glory of thy name, through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth, with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER,

COLLECT.

O God, who knowest us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright, grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temptations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER FOR DILIGENT EMPLOYMENT OF TIME.

O eternal God, who hast created us to serve thee in this generation according to our several capacities, give us thy grace, that we may be prudent and careful in the management of our time, so that we may best prevent or resist all temptation, and by diligence in the discharge of all our duties we may glorify thy holy name. Take from us all slothfulness, and give us an active and cheerful spirit, that being always occupied in lawful, necessary, and pious actions, we may improve the talent entrusted to us by thee, O Lord, and finally partake of thy eternal felicity, even for thy mercies' sake. Amen.
