FRAYER FOR SUBMISSION.

Grant unto us, O Lord, that in all the dispensations of thy providence we may submit ourselves entirely to thy good pleasure, and glorify God in the day of visitation; and since it is appointed for all men once to die, and after that the judgment, suffer us not to forget that we are strangers and pilgrims upon earth, but help us to disengage our hearts from things here below, which cannot profit in the day of wrath, that our hopes and our affections may unalterably be fixed upon those better things above, those eternal treasures which thou hast prepared for them that love thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT.

O Lord our God, for all the mercies of the day past give us, we pray thee, thankful hearts: pardon whatever we have done amiss, and be pleased to watch over us in the silent hours of the night, and may grace and peace be with us and all our dear friends and relations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c.

TUESDAY MORNING.

OFFER unto God thanksgiving, and call upon the name of the Lord; for his merciful kindness is ever more and more towards us, and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever.

We are as strangers upon earth; we are in darkness and the shadow of death.

But the Lord is our light, a sure hold and refuge for all that seek him.

He that loveth his life shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Seek salvation in Christ the Lord, who came a light into the world, that whosoever believeth in him should not abide in darkness.

For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. Glory be to the Father, &c.

PRAYER FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS.

Most gracious God, who workest in us both to will and to do of thy good pleasure; forgive us our many sins and innumerable transgressions, and vouchsafe unto us such a measure of thy grace as may enable us to fulfil all thy blessed will concerning us, and to walk worthy of that glorious state of immortality to which we are called in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Then shall all repeat

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

Amen.

PRAYER AGAINST LEVITY AND INCONSIDERATION.

God, who of infinite mercy hast given us another day to praise and bless thy name, strengthen our faith, confirm our hope, suffer us not through levity or rash inconsideration to neglect the high and important duties of our Christian calling: give us a daily increase of charity, that we may serve thee this day and ever according to all our opportunities and best ability, going on from grace to grace, and abounding more and more in Christian goodness, perfecting that holiness in heart and life, without which no man shall see the Lord; grant this, O heavenly Father, by the influence of the Holy Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT FOR TRINITY SUNDAY.

Almighty and everlasting God, who hast given unto us thy servants grace by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the Unity; we beseech thee, that thou wouldest keep us stedfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities, who livest and reignest, one God, world without end. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.

TUESDAY EVENING.

O Lord our governor, how excellent is thy name in all the world!

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

The Lord, the Lord God is merciful and gracious, abundant in goodness and truth.

Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, that glory may dwell in the land.

God shall supply all your need, according to his riches in glory, by Christ Jesus. No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Mercy and truth have met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. Glory be to the Father, &c.

AN EXHORTATION.

Brethren, let the consideration of the goodness of the Lord work in us true repentance, that iniquity may not be our ruin; and may it increase in us more and more a lively faith and love, fruitful in all holy obedience, that God may still continue his favour with the light of his Gospel to us for evermore.

Then shall all repeat

Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

PRAYER FOR A MODERATE STATION IN LIFE.

O Lord God, in whose hands are all things in heaven and in earth, who bringest down the mighty from their seat, and exaltest the humble and meek, who makest rich, and makest poor; remove far from us vanity and lies, give us neither poverty nor riches, feed us with food convenient for us, lest we be full and deny thee, and say who is the Lord, or lest we be poor and steal, and take the name of our God in vain.

Let no riches ever make us forget ourselves, let no poverty ever make us forget thee, let no hope or fear, pleasure or pain, no accident without or weakness within, turn us from the love of thy name, or from the ways of thy commandments; but let thy ever blessed and Holy Spirit in all things direct and rule our hearts and minds; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

COLLECT.

O God, who art the author of peace and lover of concord, in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom defend us thy humble servants in all assaults of our enemies, that we surely trusting in thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTORY PRAYER.
