-Blessed be the Lord who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Into Thy hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth! "We know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered."-Roм. viii. 26. "He ever liveth to make intercession."— HEB. viii. 25. THOU, the contrite sinners' friend, On this alone my hopes depend, When, weary in the Christian race, When I have erred and gone astray, When Satan, by my sins made bold, And plead, oh, plead for me! "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."— Is. xl. 31. MY God, is any hour so sweet, From blush of morn to evening star, Blest is that tranquil hour of morn, And blest that hour of solemn eve, PRAY, though the gift you ask for Yet strive and wait and pray. "When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." — ST. As still to the star of its worship, tho' clouded, The needle points faithfully o'er the dim sea; So dark, as I roam through this wintry world shrouded, The hope of my spirit turns trembling to My God! trembling to Thee, "In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." - PROV. iii. 6. I WOULD not have the restless will That hurries to and fro, Seeking for some great thing to do, Or secret thing to know; I would be dealt with as a child, Wherever in the world I am, I have a fellowship with hearts, And a work of holy love to do, For the Lord on whom I wait. I ask Thee for the daily strength, While keeping at Thy side; And if some things I do not ask, I would have my spirit filled the mcre |
