Dost Thou now with joy receive it,
Clothed in robes of spotless white,
Now it dwells with Thee in light.
Ah, LORD JESU, grant that we
Where it lives may soon be living,
And the lovely pastures see
That its heavenly food are giving,
Then the gain of death we prove
Though Thou take what most we
love. Amen.

IN Paradise reposing

7, 6, 7, 6.

By Life's eternal well,
The tender lambs of JESUS
In greenest pastures dwell.
There palms and tiny crownlets
A-glow with brightest gem,
Bedeck the baby Martyrs

Who died in Bethlehem.

With them the rose-wreathed army Of children undefiled,

Who passed through mortal torments

For love of CHRIST the Child. With them in peace unending, With them in joyous mirth, Are all the stainless infants

Which since have gone from earth.
The Angels, once their guardians,
Their fellows now in grace,
With them, in love adoring,
See God the FATHER'S Face.

The lullaby to hush them
In that eternal rest,

Is sweet angelic singing,

Their nurse GOD's Mother blest:

eyes,

Looks with a clearer, steadier ray. With that dear infant on her knee, And grateful for the blessing given, She trains the eye to look to heaven, The voice to lisp a prayer to Thee. Such thanks the blesséd Mary gave, When from her lap the Holy Child, Sent from on high to seek and save The lost of earth, looked up and smiled.

All Gracious, grant to those who bear A mother's charge, the strength and light

To lead the steps that own their care, In ways of love, and truth, and right. Amen.

HAIL the sign, the sign of JESUS,
Bright and royal Tree!

Standard of the Monarch, planted
First on Calvary !

Hail the sign all signs excelling,
Hail the sign all ills dispelling,
Hail the sign hell's power quelling,
Cross of CHRIST, all hail!

Hail the sign, the King preceding,
Key to hell's domain!

Lo, the brazen gates it shatters,
Bars it snaps in twain!

Hail the sign, &c.

;

Hail the sign, on Easter morning
Breaking from the tomb
In the hand of CHRIST dispelling
Sorrow, death, and gloom.

Hail the sign, &c.

HEARD the voice of JESUs say,
"Come unto Me and rest;

Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
Thy head upon My breast."

I came to JESUS as I was-
Weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place,
And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of JESUS say,
"Behold I freely give

The living water-thirsty one,
Stoop down, and drink, and live."

Sign to Martyrs strength and refuge, I came to JESUS, and I drank

Sign to Saints so dear!

Sign of evil men abhorréd,
Sign which devils fear!

Hail the sign, &c.

Sign which, on the day of vengeance,
Meteor-like shall flare!
Shuddering flesh shall then behold it
Steeped in blood-red glare.

Hail the sign, &c.

Men shall shriek for very anguish
Evil hearts shall quail;

But the Saints in fullest rapture
Shall that vision hail.

Hail the sign, &c.

Lo, the Cross of CHRIST my Master

On my brow I trace;

May it keep my mind unsullied,

Doubt and fear displace.

Hail the sign, &c.

I bring my guilt to JESUS,

To wash my crimson stains White in His Blood most precious, Till not a spot remains.

I lay my wants on JESUS:

All fulness dwells in Him:
He heals all my diseases,
He doth my soul redeem.
I lay my griefs on JESUS,

My burdens and my cares;
He from them all releases,
He all my sorrows shares.

I rest my soul on JESUS,

This weary soul of mine;
His right Hand me embraces,
I on His breast recline.
I love the Name of JESUS,

Immanuel, CHRIST, the LORD; Like fragrance on the breezes, His Name abroad is poured.

I long to be like JESUS,
Meek, loving, lowly, mild;
I long to be like JESUS,

The FATHER'S Holy Child.
I long to be with JESUS,

Amid the heavenly throng, To sing with saints His praises, To learn the Angels' song.

6, 4, 6, 4, 6, 6, 6, 4.

I'M but a stranger here,
Heaven is my home.
Earth is a desert drear;
Heaven is my home.
Danger and sorrow stand
Round me on every hand,
Heaven is my fatherland-
Heaven is my home.

What though the tempests rage,
Heaven is my home.
Short is my pilgrimage;
Heaven is my home.
And Time's wild wintry blast
Soon will be overpast,
I shall reach home at last;
Heaven is my home.

There, at my SAVIOUR'S side,
Heaven is my home.

To fulfil my soul's request.

There is rest for the weary, there is
rest for the weary,
There is rest for you.

On the other side of Jordan,
In the sweet fields of Eden
Where the Tree of Life is blooming,
There is rest for you.

He is fitting up my mansion,
Which eternally shall stand;
My stay will not be transient
In that holy, happy land
There is rest, &c.

Pain nor sickness e'er can enter;
Grief nor woe my lot shall share ;
But in that celestial centre

I a crown of life shall wear.
There is rest, &c.

Death itself shall then be vanquished,
And its sting shall be withdrawn ;
Shout with gladness, O ye ransomed!
Hail with joy the happy morn.

There is rest, &c.

Sing, O sing, ye heirs of glory,
Shout your triumphs as you go!
Zion's gates will open to you,
You shall find an entrance through.
There is rest &c.

I

D. S. M.

WAS a wandering sheep,
I did not love the fold;

I did not love my Shepherd's voice,
I would not be controlled.

I was a wayward child,

I did not love my home,

I did not love my FATHER'S voice,
I loved afar to roam.

The Shepherd sought His sheep,
The FATHER sought His child;
They followed me o'er vale and hill,
O'er deserts waste and wild.
They found me nigh to death,
Famished, and faint, and lone;
They bound me with the bands of
love,

They saved the wandering one.

They spoke in tender love, They raised my drooping head: They gently closed my bleeding wounds,

My fainting soul they fed.

They washed my filth away,

They made me clean and fair;

JESU, Thou sweetest Guest, JESU, Thou Shepherd best,

Draw my heart after Thee, now and for aye.

I who have lost my way, I am that sheep astray,

Save me, CHRIST JESU, from peril of hell,

And in the gushing flood of Thy most precious Blood

Wash me, that cleansed I may cherish Thee well.

Comfort of weeping eyes, Thou the soul's sweetest prize,

Fount of grace, love, and sole gladness below,

SAVIOUR, with Whom is rest, JESU, Thou Shepherd best,

After death save me, and guard from the foe.

JESU, Thou fairest here, Bridegroom most true and dear,

Brighter than sunshine, than honey more sweet,

They brought me to my home in Grant me, O LORD, Thy grace, give

peace,

The long-sought wanderer!

Thy lost sheep a place

When life is ended, in joy at Thy

Feet. Amen.

move,

Bound to the land of bright spirits above;

JESUS Our SAVIOUR in mercy says, Come,

Joyfully, joyfully, haste to your home.

Joyfully, joyfully, onward we move, Bound to the land of bright spirits above.

Soon will our pilgrimage end here below,

Soon to the Presence of GOD we shall go;

Then, if to JESUS our hearts shall be
given,
Joyfully, joyfully, rest we in heaven.
Joyfully, joyfully, &c.

Teachers and kindred have passed on before,

Waiting, they watch us approaching the shore,

Singing to cheer us while passing along

Joyfully, joyfully, haste to your home. Joyfully, joyfully, &c.

Sounds of sweet music there ravish the ear,

Harps of the blesséd, your strains we shall hear,

Filling with harmony heaven's high dome,

Joyfully, joyfully, JESU, we come.
Joyfully, joyfully, &c.

Death with its arrows may soon lay us low,

Safe in our SAVIOUR we fear not the blow;

JESUS hath broken the bars of the
tomb-
Joyfully, joyfully, we will go home.
Joyfully, joyfully, &c.

8, 6, 8, 8, 8, 6.

IGHT of the world! O shine on us,
Thy little flock below;

Shine on this path we daily tread,
Shine on each poor, defenceless head,
Shine through the shadows dark and
dread,

That hover round us now.
Light of the world! O shine on us,
Thy little pilgrim band;

Shine on the way once trod before
By Thine own feet, in sorrow sore,
That leads us onward to the shore

Of Sion's Sabbath-land.

Light of the world! O shine on us,

Let us Thy Presence see;

Shine backward with a lasting gleam, A loving unpolluted stream,

From that sweet home of which we dream,

To guide us there to Thee. Light of the world! be visible,

In every cloud be seen;
In every taste of soul-distress,
In every step of weariness,
Shine backward o'er this wilderness
That stretches out between.

Light of the world! be merciful,
And lead us safely on;

On through the rough and bleak highway,

Where perils wait in dread array,
To snare each pilgrim-soul away

When he is once alone.

Light of the world! reveal-reveal
And turn from us all harm;
Make clear the road to Jordan's side,
And meet us by its rushing tide.
For never evil may betide

Those sheltered by Thine Arm.
