2 Happy the man whose hopes rely On Israel's God. He made the sky,

And earth, and seas, with all their train. His truth forever stands secure.

He saves th' oppressed, he feeds the poor,
And none shall find his promise vain.

3 The Lord pours eyesight on the blind;
The Lord supports the fainting mind;
He sends the lab'ring conscience peace;
He helps the stranger in distress-
The widow and the fatherless-

And grants the prisoner sweet release.

4 I'll praise him while he lends me breath, And when my voice is lost in death,

Praise shall employ my nobler powers. My days of praise shall ne'er be past, While life, and thought, and being last, Or immortality endures.

FROM

L. M.

ROM all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creator's praise arise;

Let the Redeemer's name be sung
Through every land, by every tongue.
Eternal are thy mercies, Lord;

Eternal truth attends thy word.

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.

2 Your lofty themes, ye mortals, bring,
In songs of praise divinely sing.
The great salvation loud proclaim,
And shout, for joy, the Savior's name.
In every land begin the song;

To every land the strains belong.
In cheerful sounds all voices raise,
And fill the world with loudest praise.

KNOW that my Redeemer lives,

I What comfort this sweet sentence gives

He lives, he lives, who once was dead,
He lives, my everlasting Head.

2 He lives triumphant from the grave,
He lives eternally to save;

He lives, and while he lives I'll sing,
He lives my Prophet, Priest and King.

8 He lives to bless me with his love,
He lives to plead for me above;
He lives my hungry soul to feed,
He lives to help in time of need.

4 He lives to grant me rich supply,
He lives to guide me with his eye;
He lives to comfort me when faint,
He lives to hear my soul's complaint.

5 He lives, and grants me daily breath,
He lives, and I shall conquer death;
He lives my mansion to prepare,
He lives to bring me safely there.

6 He lives, all glory to his name!
He lives my Jesus, still the same;
O the sweet joys the sentence gives,
I know that my Redeemer lives!

HITHER, ye faithful, haste with songs of

triumph,

To Bethlehem go, the Lord of Life to meet; To you this day is born a Prince and Savior, O come, and let us worship at his feet.

2 O Jesus! for such wond'rous condescension, Our praise and our reverence are an off'ring meet;

Now is the word made flesh and dwells among us,
O come, and let us worship at his feet.

8 Shout his almighty name, ye choir of angels,
Let the celestial courts his praise repeat;
Unto our God be glory in the highest-
O come, and let us worship at his feet.

WAKE, my soul, in joyful lays,

A And sing thy great Redeemer's praise;

He justly claims a song from thee,
His loving kindness, O how free!

2 He saw me ruin'd by the fall,
Yet lov'd me, notwithstanding all,
And sav'd me from my lost estate;
His loving kindness, Ó how great!

8 Though num'rous hosts of mighty foes,
Though hell and earth my way oppose,
He safely leads my soul along;
His loving kindness, O how strong!

4 When trouble, like a gloomy cloud,
Has gathered thick and thundered loud;

He near my soul has always stood,
His loving kindness, O how good!
5 Often I feel my sinful heart
Prone from my Jesus to depart;
But though I have him oft forgot,
His loving kindness changes not.

6 Soon shall I pass the gloomy vale,
Soon all my mortal powers must fail;
O may my last expiring breath
His loving kindness sing in death!

7 Then let me mount and soar away
To the bright world of endless day,
And sing, with rapture and surprise.
His loving kindness in the skies.

[AIL! sov'reign love, that first began
reveue fallen man!

Hail! matchless, free, eternal grace,
That gave my soul a hiding place!

2 Against the God that rules the sky
I fought with hands uplifted high—
Despised the offers of his grace,
Too proud to seek a hiding place.

8 Enwrapt in dark Egyptian night,
And fond of darkness more than light,
Madly I ran the sinful race,

Secure without a hiding place.

4 But lo! the eternal counsel ran,

Almighty love, arrest the man!" I felt the arrows of distress,

And found I had no hiding place.

5 Vindictive justice stood in view,
To Sinai's fiery mount I flew;

Stern justice cried with frowning face,
This mountain is no hiding place.

6 But lo! a heavenly voice I heard,
And mercy for my soul appear'd;
She led me on a pleasant pace,
To Jesus Christ, my hiding place.

ARK! ten thousand harps and voices

HSound the note of praise above!

Jesus reigns, and heaven rejoices;
Jesus reigns, the God of love!
See! he sits on yonder throne;
Jesus rules the world alone.

Hallelujah! Amen.

2 Jesus, hail! whose glory brightens
All above, and gives it worth;
Lord of love, thy smile enlightens,
Cheers and charms thy saints on earth.
When we think of love like thine,

Lord, we own it love divine.

3 King of glory, reign for ever,

Thine an everlasting crown.

Nothing from thy love shall sever

Those whom thou hast made thine own.

Happy objects of thy grace,

Chosen to behold thy face.

4 Savior, hasten thine appearing, Bring, O bring the glorious day, When the awful summons hearing,
