Heaven and earth shall pass away! Then with golden harps we'll sing, Glory, glory to our King.

6, 4.

OME, thou almighty King,
Help us thy name to sing,
Help us to praise!

Father! all-glorious,

O'er all victorious,

Come, and reign over us,
Ancient of days!

2 Come, thou incarnate Word!
Gird on thy mighty sword!
Our prayer attend.
Come, and thy people bless,
And give thy word success;
Spirit of holiness,

On us descend!

3 Come, holy Comforter!
Thy sacred witness bear,
In this glad hour!
Thou who almighty art,
Now rule in every heart,
And ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of power!

4 To the great One in Three,
The highest praises be,
Hence evermore!

His sovereign majesty
May we in glory see,
And to eternity
Love and adore.

[OLY Bible, well I love thee:

H Thou didst shine upon my way,
Like the glorious sun above me,
Turning darkness into day.
Just as the sun rolls back the night,
Breaking forth with morning ray,
So does the Bible's spreading light
Chase the shades of sin away.

2 Holy Bible, mines of treasure
In thy precious folds I see;
Earthly good would know no measure
If this world were ruled by thee.
Just as the sun, from morn till noon,
Stately climbs the eastern sky,
So over all the earth shall soon-
Beam the Day-spring from on high.

8 Holy Bible, thou wilt cheer me
When I lay me down to die;
Christ has promised to be near me,
Can I fear when he is nigh?
Just as the sun descends at eve,
Soon with fresher beams to rise,
So shall the dying saint receive
Life eternal in the skies.

TEMPTATIONS AND TRIALS.

8, 7.

ARK and thorny is the desert

Through which pilgrims make their way;

Yet beyond this vale of sorrow

Lie the fields of endless day.

Fiends loud howling through the desert
Make them tremble as they go,
And the fiery darts of Satan

Often bring their courage low

2 O, young soldiers, are you weary
Of the roughness of the way?
Does your strength begin to fail you,
And your vigor to decay?
Jesus, Jesus will go with you,

He will lead you to his throne-
He who dyed his garments for you,
And the wine press trod alone.

8 He whose thunder shakes creation-
He who bids the planets roll-
He who rides upon the tempest,
And whose sceptre sways the whole-
Round him are ten thousand angels,
Ready to obey command;

They are always hov'ring round you,
Till you reach the heavenly land.

4 There, on flow'ry hills of pleasure,
Lie the fields of endless rest.
Love, and joy, and peace for ever
Reign and triumph in your breast.
Who can paint the scenes of glory
Where the ransom'd dwell on high?
They, on golden harps, for ever

Sound redemption through the sky.

6 There a million flaming seraphs
Fly across the heav'nly plain,
Where they sing immortal praises.
Glory, glory is their strain.
But methinks a sweeter concert

Makes the heav'nly arches ring, And the song is heard in Zion,

Which the angels can not sing.

6 0 their crowns! how bright they sparkle!
Such as monarchs never wore;
They are gone to richer pastures,
Jesus is their shepherd there.
Hail! ye happy, happy spirits,

Death no more shall make you fear;
Grief or sorrow, pain or anguish,
Shall no more distress you there.

FFLICTED saint, to Christ draw near;

A Thy Savior's gracious promise hear.

His faithful word declares to thee,

That “as thy day, thy strength shall be.”

2 Thy faith is weak, thy foes are strong; And, if the conflict should be long, Thy Lord will make the tempter flee, For "as thy day, thy strength shall be.". 3 Should persecution rage and flame, Still trust in thy Redeemer's name. In fiery trials thou shalt see,

That "as thy day, thy strength shall be."

4 When call'd by Him to bear the cross,
Reproach, affliction, pain or loss,
Or deep distress and poverty,

Still "as thy day, thy strength shall be."

5 When death at length appears in view Christ's presence shall thy fears subdue; He'll come to set thy spirit free,

And as 66

thy day, thy strength shall be."

How Lord,

Is laid for your faith in his excellent word! What more can he say than to you he hath said,

You, who unto Jesus for refuge have fled ?

2 In ev'ry condition, in sickness, in health, In poverty's vale, or abounding in wealth; At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea, "As thy days may demand, shall thy strength ever be.

3 "Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismay'd, I, I am thy God, and will still give thee aid; I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,

Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand. 4 "When through the deep waters I call thee to go,

The rivers of wo shall not thee overflow;
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

5 "When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,

My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply. The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

6"Even down to old age, all my people shall prove

My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love; And, when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,
