In that fair clime of endless day,

The Lord shall wipe all tears away.

4 To living founts through verdant meads,
The Lamb his ransom'd followers leads;
The fruits and flowers of Paradise
In plenteous showers round them rise.

5 No death shall visit them again;
No sickness there, no touch of pain;
No mourning there, no fun'ral gloom,
But health and youth forever bloom.

8, 7.

TRAV'LING pilgrim here I roam,
And aiming for bright glory;
I seek a country and a home,
A rest that's for the weary.
I left the world behind my back,
No more to seek its pleasure-
Set out to trace the narrow track,
And gain a better treasure.

2 Sometimes the wicked laugh and scorn,
And sinners do deride me;
They view me lost, and quite forlorn,
But Jesus he will guide me.
Sometimes I weep, sometimes I mourn,
Sometimes I sing sweet glory;
Sometimes I'm sad, sometimes I'm glad,
And long to tell my story.

8 Amaz'd the world in wonder stands,
And can not tell the meaning,
Why I rejoice and lift my hands,
And then am heard complaining.
But strangers they are to my joys,

And strangers to my sorrows;
I have a hope above the skies,
Where Jesus saves from terrors.

WE have our trials here below,

But we sing, Hallelujah!

For a better day is coming,

Hallelujah!

[blocks in formation]

4 Through storms and calms we urge our way, O glory, &c.,

We're aiming for bright glory.

5 We expect to reach there by and by,

O glory, &c.,

Our home is over Jordan.

6 We have some friends before us gone,

O glory &c., By and by we'll go and meet them.

7 We'll meet them around our Father's throne,

And live with God for ever.

O glory, &c.,

8.0 how it lifts my soul to think,

O glory &c.,

Of meeting in the kingdom.

O glory, &c.,

9 Our God will wipe all tears away,

When we arrive at Canaan.

[blocks in formation]

YE valiant soldiers of the cross,

Ye happy praying band,

Though in this world you suffer loss,
You'll reach fair Canaan's land.

Let us never mind the scoffs nor the frowns of the world,

For we've all got the cross to bear;

It will only make the crown the brighter to shine,

When we have the crown to wear.

2 All earthly pleasures we'll forsake,
When heaven appears in view,
In Jesus strength we'll undertake
To fight our passage through.

Chorus.

8 O, what a glorious shout there'll be
When we arrive at home:

Our friends and Jesus we shall see,
And God shall say, "Well done."

8, 7.

Chorus.

Tand duty's call divide us,

HOUGH traveling through a wilderness,

Though many a winter's storm distress,
The star of hope will guide us.

We'll stand the storm, it won't be long,
The heavenly port is nigh;

We'll stand the storm, it won't be long,
And anchor by and by.

2 And this shall cheer the lonely way,
And gild the gloom of sorrow,
And, through the shades of parting day,
Point to a brighter morrow.

Chorus.

8 But should this star be clouded here,
And should we meet, O, never!
The transient joys of life to share,
"Twill not be dimm'd for ever.

Chorus.

4 No! we shall meet, though parted here, To part again-no, never!

But, joyful with our Savior, there

To spend a long forever.

Chorus.

REJOICING IN HOPE.

URST, ye emerald gates, and bring
To my raptur'd vision

BR

All the ecstatic joys that spring
Round the bright Elysian.
Lo! we lift our longing eyes;
Break, ye intervening skies.
Sons of righteousness, arise,
Open the gates of paradise.

2 Floods of everlasting light
Freely flash before him;
Myriads, with supreme delight,

Instantly adore him.

Angelic trumps resound his fame;
Lutes of lucid gold proclaim
All the music of his name-
Heaven shall echo with the theme.

8 Four and twenty elders rise
From their princely station,
Shout his glorious victories,
Sing his great salvation-
Cast their crowns before his throne,
Cry in reverential tone,
Glory be to God alone,

Holy! Holy! Holy One!

4 Hark! the thrilling symphonies
Seem, methinks, to seize us.
Join we to the holy lays-
Jesus-Jesus-Jesus!

Sweetest sound in seraph's song,
Sweetest note on mortal's tongue,
Sweetest carol ever sung-
Jesus-Jesus flow along.

7, 6.

WHEN shall I see Jesus,
And dwell with him above,
To drink the flowing fountains
Of everlasting love?
When shall I be deliver'd
From this vain world of sin,
And, with my bless'd Jesus,
Drink endless pleasures in?

2 But now I am a soldier,

My Captain's gone before;
He's given me my orders,
