4 God o'er all, in heaven reigning,
We this day thy glory sing;
Not with palms thy pathway strewing,
We would loftier tribute bring-

Calls you; now be ready found;

Make a happy choice.

Jesus says, in accents mild,

Come to me, my little child;

Give your heart to Christ, your Friend;
On him now depend.
List ye to that, &c.

2 Can we Heaven's gift decline?
No! we'll choose the good,
And the cause of sin resign,
For our Savior, God.

Then we shall with grace appear,

Then we shall be happy here,

Looking for the blest reward

Promised in his word.

Can we Heaven's gift, &c.

8 Let the little children come, To their Savior fly,

And they shall enjoy his home

In the starry sky.

Hopes and friends, and pleasures fair,
Love, and bliss, and Christ are there-
Golden streets, and fruits, and trees-
Can we part with these?

Let the little, &c.

Who have sought the Lord by prayer
From every Sunday-school.

311 HOW

11s.

W sweet is the Sabbath, the morning of rest!

The day of the week which I surely love best; The morning my Savior arose from the tomb, And took from the grave all its terror and gloom.

2 O let me be thoughtful and prayerful to-day, And not spend a minute in trifling or playRemembering these seasons were graciously given

To teach me to seek, and prepare me for heaven.

8 In the house of my God, in his presence and fear,

Where I worship to-day, may it all be sincere! In the school where I learn, may I do it with

care,

And be grateful to those who watch over me there

4 Instruct me, my Savior-a child though I be, I am not too young to be noticed by thee. Renew all my heart, keep me firm in thy

yavs,

I would love thee and serve thee, and give thee the praise.

[blocks in formation]

HILDREN, listen to the strains,

CH

/ Bursting through the heavenly plains; Hear ve not the chorus sweet

Which the happy ones repeat:

"Unto him that bled and died,
Endless praises be ascribed?"

Glory, glory, glory!

2 Hosts of children praise the Lamb;
Would you know from whence they came?
They were once like you below,
But were saved from sin and wo!
O how happy now they feel,
As before the throne they kneel!
Joys they have unspeakable!

Glory, glory, glory!

8 Some are there from India's strand;
Some from our own favored land;
Some from Afric's burning plains;
Some from Greenland's cold domains;
But their song of praise is one,
Round our heavenly Father's throne-
No distinction there is known.

Glory, glory, glory!

4 Some are there whom you have known,
Decked with an immortal crown;
Palms of victory in their hand,
Round the throne of God they stand.
Hark! what anthems sweet they raise!
Loud they chant their heavenly lays!
Hear ye not their songs of praise?

Glory, glory, glory!

5 Children, would you share their bliss?
Would you feel their happiness?
You must here the Savior know,
If you would to glory go.

Hark! he says, in accents kind,
Ever keep the truth in mind,
They that early seek shall find!

Glory, glory, glory!

9, 7, 8.

SING, Christian, sing; soon your labor's

done,

Soon you'll hear your welcome home;
That happy hour will soon be here,
When Christ, our Savior, will appear.

Chorus.

Then haste, let us work till the daylight is o'er,

Our hearts fill'd with love, as we row to the shore,

Our earthly labor being done,

How sweet the Christian's welcome home! Home, home, home, the Christian's welcome home!

2 Urge on the way, put your trust in God, Spread his glory all abroad;

[ocr errors]

Soon you shall hear his voice, 'Tis done! Children, Father calls you home."

Then haste, &c.

3 Shout, brethren, shout, as you onward move To your home prepar'd above!

Soon 'twill appear, and O how bright
Prayer to praise, and faith to sight.

Then haste, &c.

4 The prospect brightens while we sing,
Glory to our Heavenly King!

All hail our blessed home above,
Glory to the God of love.

Then haste, &c.
